see shultz, justin
if they dont sign an ELC there isnt much a club can do.. and if they are a talented player then teams will always be there to gobble them up - Dozzer
Rask was a different situation than Shultz as he didn't have the same control....
If Rask didn't sign and the leafs didn't move him wouldn't he have went back into the draft?? |

I love that people are trying to argue reimer is a better goalie then Lou that's not even a discussion. - Yeti1181
once you had contract value.. yeah, i say so
on ice, no, not at all.. but when all factors are considered i would rather have reimer |

Apples and oranges. Tuuka Rask would have been re-entered in the draft, he wouldn't have been a UFA. |

Him, Cooke and Malkin and pretty much any Penguin that's pissing me off at any given moment, would be my exception to any rule... |

Reimer is 12-4-4 and he is playing solid! Bozak is the #1 centre and he has played good! There is no need for Luongo and his gay contract on our team, especially if it costs us a pick and a prospect along with bozak and his nice lettuce! |

Yeah, but NCAA players are free 30 days after they leave college... Unless Rask was in the NCAA, the situations are different. |

i believe so, but that doesnt change the fact that the leafs hadnt signed him, so it was better to trade him off over losing him for absolutely nothing |

He's haing an off year probably to do with all the controversy surroudning the situation. He helped take his team to the finals he did not lose the series he played well. They wouldn't have got that far without him kesler and the sedins disappeared for long stretches in the playoffs and he had to help carry them. He won olympic gold as well as world championships, took his junior team to consecutive memorial cup tournaments. As for schneider beaten him out he didn't really do anything to beat him out Vancouver management bent to the fans and that's why he lost his job. - Yeti1181
He's having a off year cause hes in decline. Sure he could rebound but for how long a year or two? I have never see a great goalie meltdown as often as Luongo. He played well against Boston? Getting lit up for 19 goals in 4 games??
Team Canada won in spite of Luongo not because of him. Remember Parises cheesy weak angle goal to tie it up with just minutes to play. Anti-clutch.
Don't listen to what Vancouver fans (used car salesmen) say about Lu when trying to peddle him. He is incredibly skilled and has a good career no one denies this. They want Schneider over Lu because he doesn't have mental breakdowns.
I live in BC during the 2011 Cup run I watched all the games when he's on he's fantastic when he's off it's a disaster. |

this...why would have a 5 mil cap hit for a guy who looks like he would get played to the backup position or at least a platoon situation by two guys we already have that are young and get paid less than him combined |

how does that change the leafs situation?
who the hell cares what happens after? you dont sign the guy and lose his rights for nothing its bad.. cause even then if you want him back you got to use another draft pick on him (if you get the chance)
splitting hairs guys. |
