Zack Kassian cleared to play tonight in Edmonton. Will be a game-time decision. Kevin Bieksa's in. High-scoring LW Keith Ballard is out.

This is just a rumor. TO offering Grabo + pick for Louie. Canucks asking for Bozak + pick. TO willing to move Bozak if Raymond included.

Whether this is a rumour or not it is something to think about.

Raymond for a second . Sure why not

Lu for Bozak . Again sure why not but they would need to include a goalie .

There's absolutely no way that Nonis - if he wants to keep his job - takes on Luongo's ridiculous contract without substantial CAP going back. Nonis is not fixing Gillis' CAP nightmare for him

I don't think the Panthers trade Markstrom....

They are not trading for lu. It will be a little while yet before they are competing for a playoff spot. Why trade away a young goalie for an older one while you don't have the rest of the team to support him.

Not enough, we need to spend way more money than just those 3 at the TDL! Try to get Thornton too!

We wish!

If a trade is made, I expect it to be because Gillis lowered his asking price significantly, not because someone suddenly got way more desperate.

Hey guys I just posted this in the Toronto Thread. Wondering what your thoughts are?

I have a scenario that I'm not sure is allowed under the CBA. maybe someone with some knowledge can chime in.

I know that a team can take back up to 50% of a players contract in a trade, but can both teams take back salary in a trade.

For Example:

The leafs trade a package based around Grabovski to Vancouver and eat 50% of his salary for the entire 4 years remaining after this one. Toronto Gets Luongo and Vancouver eats 25% of his contract for the entirety of the deal.

For the first 4 years the Leafs pay 2.75 million of Grabovski's contract and just under 4 for Luongo. Essentially making Luongo a 6.75 cap hit for the first 4 years. However in the later deals once the Grabovski contract is up Luongo's cap hit would remain just under 4 million.

Can anyone shed some light.

Haven't heard much about how he's progressing in Chicago? Hopefully he adapts to the pro game quickly.

Only seen him in bits of two games, but overall he looks like he's got some good tools to work with.

Excellent in the circle, very good backchecker, and strong along the boards.

Little rough around the edges—he's overcommitted a few checks and been burned a couple times as a result.

Nothing really exciting offensively, but he seems to be able to carry the play pretty well for a big kid, which is more than I cans say for a few of the bigger Canuck 4th liners over the years.

Is there such thing as a CBA expert? Seems like even some GM's aren't even aware of all the rules. If it works like that, then it sounds like a win-win deal for both sides since I don't mind Grabovski at a reduced cap hit at all.

Agreed. Sounds like he's having an off year, but I was always under the impression that he was quite solid defensively, and can chip in some goals, as well. Would be a good 3C.

If his cap hit wasn't so high, I'd actually much prefer him over Bozak.

well that is just a horrible propositon. You would rather lose Luongo and get nothing in return.

You do realize the more of Luongo's contract that Vancouver takes on the higher the package will be.

In my Scenario you get Grabovski at a hair over 4 million which is right around where he should be. Plus let's say a first round pick dependent on playoff performance or something, or not. Maybe you get Grabs and Colborne, the point is you get useful players and the cap hit for 4 years is reasonable. After that you would take on a 1.333 million hit for the 5 years left on Luongos contract.

Toronto get's Luongo at almost exactly 4 million a season for 9 years. in my eyes it makes perfect sense.

I agree, it's a very well thought our trade and looks like it makes a ton of sense for both sides. It would only work if Gillis is prepared to give up on Booth and move him this summer though since I don't think he can afford both when the cap goes down next year.
