My preference would be a sideways move for future flexibility like I suggested a couple threads ago (Datsyuk/Howard for Kesler/Luongo), but I know a move like that is less likely than VANTEL's youngest brother being gay...
So I'll just hope that Gillis doesn't pull a Feaster Bunny & deliver us rotten eggs. |

I agree, it's a very well thought our trade and looks like it makes a ton of sense for both sides. It would only work if Gillis is prepared to give up on Booth and move him this summer though since I don't think he can afford both when the cap goes down next year. - Nucker101
If Luongo was to retire a leaf with term left you would still have a cap hit against you anyways.
Some contracts are crazy. i have no problem with Getz and Perry and guys like that. But how burrows gets 4.5 and Grabs gets 5.5, those middle of the road players are way over paid. I really want to see what some of these guys get as free agents. I want to see if Bozak gets closer to 5 which he is absolutely not worth or closer to 3.5 which in my opinion is still to high for players like this.
Superstars deserve to get paid, but GM's really need to set the bar way lower for third line type players |

You were making some sense, but all credibility was lost right there....
You obviously don't watch many Canucks games if you don't think Burr is worth 4.5 |

I disagree man, in a cap system he isn't. If there was no cap or even a soft cap, I would say he should get over 5. But in a cap world it's those contracts that you will be trying to shed when you run into cap trouble. People would gladly take the Sedin's but not for the price you would want if team's know you have cap problems.

WTF are you going on about the Sedins now ?
You think the Sedins are overpaid
Don't even know what to say to that.
You clearly don't watch the Canucks.
Any GM in the league would absolutely love to have the Sedins and Burr at their current cap hits |

Dude you are making things up in your head.
I never once said the Sedin's were overpaid. They actually probably have the best cap hit of any superstars in the league. Please learn to read.
If other GM's know a team is going to be having cap problems the obvious players those GM's would want would be your superstars. Also probably the players least likely to be dealt. Which is exactly my point.
When teams no longer have those buyouts available, and a situation like the blackhawk's comes up, it's the third line roll player type players that get traded.
Teams take advantage of that. Also I realize that fans of every team over value their players. I really like Burrows but once again in a cap system I don't see him being worth that much. I would love him on the Leafs, but not at that price. I really like Bozak but I think if he gets anywhere near 4 million the Leafs should walk away |

Not trying to make things up, I honestly didn't know what you were trying to say about the Sedins—it wasn't clear. Seemed like you were saying they were overpaid.
We obviously disagree about Burrows, but I can assure you it's nothing to do with overvaluing him.
You have to watch him a lot to appreciate how much he does every shift with and without the puck. Like I said, any GM in the league would take him a 4.5/season.

A lot of Canucks fans would be all over Gillis if he made that trade. I don't mind offering Booth+, but not a first in a deep draft. - Nucker101
You guys keep saying it's a deep draft, but....
"It’s a deep top 10 and an OK first round, but I don’t see a lot of depth. Is it deeper than 2012? I’m not so sure."

Maybe I do need to see him play more, all I am saying is in comparison to other contracts like Callahan or Bergeron for example, I just think he comes in a little high. Again nothing against him. Dude Lucic is gonna make 6 next year. All teams have these contracts. It's the way the market has been, I just think teams are really gonna start regretting these deals soon enough.
Especially when Eberle and Hall will be getting those ludicrous contracts. What ever happened to the time when players actually had to prove themselves a little bit. |

Interesting. Honestly, I'm not a big prospect guy, I just read some blogs and articles and trust that they have some idea of what they're talking about. |

There have been rumours that Datsyuk will go finish his career in the khl once his contract expires. |
