Sorry Colin, I think you're one of the better bloggers round these parts. Straight forward, fair and credible. I have to disagree with you on this one though, Iginla may come back to Calgary, but it won' t be until he has retired and returns to the Saddle dome to be honored and have his Jersey retired...

If he wins a cup with Pitt, I could see him coming back.

What would his incentive be? He could be in line for 2 or 3 cup wins if he plays his cards right. I think this notion is Calgary fans purely trying to soften the blow by making up this pipe dream that he'll one day return...

Calgary won't be a contender again for at least 2 or 3 seasons minimum. I could possibly see Iginla returning for his final season, but he won't have much left in the tank when and if that were to happen. JMO And that's IF Calgary is even interested in re-signing him just for a swan song. They may not have room for a has been superstar merely trying to play out his last season or so.

Personally as a long time flames fan I do not want iggy back unless it's at a big discount. It really is time to move on people. Yes he was the face of our franchise. "Was" being the key word. He is a great player and a future hall of famer, now it's time to find that new franchise player.

You make some good points, but maybe he just wants to win that elusive cup and finish his career where his heart really is, in Calgary. I could be totally wrong though, but I'm guessing that his odds of returning increase more if he wins a cup this year.

The Flames don't need Iggy back, it's time to turn the page. They haven't won squat with him & they don't need to turn the clock back, it's time to turn it forward with new blood, not the same stale crap they've had for the past 7yrs.

It would be the dumbest thing yet the organization has made although because they are one of the worst run teams in the league, nothing surprises me anymore.

Hell maybe Feaster will get another couple of college unknowns for Jaybo!!

No, I'm being a bit critical. You pose a fair argument. All I'm saying is that things change pretty fast from year to year. Brunette was no super star, but he did return to the Wild twice. So I hear what you're saying.

How can ANY Of you homers HONESTLY say this isn't his fault? He is a selfish POS who screwed over the organization on purpose.. what a load of bs.

Yeah dude, i've got a list of 4 teams here i'll go to...

Ok, we got a trade done with Boston...

Oh wait... did I say 4 teams? I meant just the Penguins. I don't care if you get shafted on the return *cries and throws arms in the air* I WANNA WIN NOW!!!

*rampant crying and whining ensues*

Jarome is a beeeitch. Lost all respect for the guy. I hope Chara puts him into the partition like Pacioretty. Clown.

Actually, what you have said is disrespect! Remember- what Mats Sundin did for his organization is disrespectful- far from what Jarome Iginla did. Iggy at least agreed to leave to get us a draft pick. If you want to blame anybody- blame the guy who signed the contract allowing to have a no movement clause; blame the GM who didn't go to Jarome Iginla a year ago, or the year before that, or as far back as you want and didn't ask Jarome to be traded. If you really want to blame someone, blame the ownership who never decided it was worthwhile to trade Jarome in the past because all they cared about was our dollar bill.

Jarome Iginla can go wherever he wants. We might not like the return, but trust me- if he goes to the team and wins a Cup, he'll be back in September. And he'll be a better player for it.

The Flames don't need Iggy back, but he'll come back. He'll come back with the intention of helping his team win a Stanley Cup. Not with the intention of winning himself one.

He'll be a different player when returns. The team game will mean a lot more to him, and for once, we'll have a Captain who has actually won a Stanley Cup instead of staring in the face of a bunch of players who have no real idea of what it means to go get one. And this time- that player will be our Captain.

He isn't coming back nor will the Flames want him back. He's not helping them win squat since the rebuild has begun.

More vets will be out the door before the deadline & it's time to move on from those brutal 8yrs since 04.

Bringing him back doesn't do a damn thing, all it's saying is let's bring back the old men again - not going to happen whether you fans in Calgary like it or not.

And Iggy himself has moved on, he was stale in Calgary & he knew it.

Iginla had a pretty good debut tonight. You can tell the Iggy-Geno-Nealer line will be dominant. Iginla sure was a nice acquisition.

So, having this all-star line and the Crosby line (best in NHL), which one would you put your best defenders against? Tough decision!

Go Pens Go! Let's get this one for Iggy, Morrow and Vokoun!!

To all you donkeys that think Iggy should've told Feaster and company that he only wanted to go to Pitt should slap yourself. Can you imagine the return if Pitt had no one to bid against? They needed to have some sort of leverage to get what they got. Which wasn't much.

I think Jarome earned the right to pick and choose where he wanted to go, he owes the Flames organization nothing, they paid him well and he earned every dollar while being one of the classiest guys in the league.

I don't like the Pens, but it'll be entertaining to watch.

- LeftCoaster

Agreed, entirely...

I also think.. His future depends on this year's result. If he wins a cup, he resigns in Calgary for the remainder of his career... If they miss out, he may resign for a year again in Pittsburgh to give it another go, before he returns to the Flames.

Pitt knew Iggy wanted to go there, that's why they didn't get squat for him. Wow I can't believe how stupid some people are.

Iggy is NOT resigning in Calgary & the Flames don't want him anymore. Why don't you people move on already. This organization needs a new direction, not bringing back old players on their downside.

Get a grip already!!

They didn't have any leverage that's why they got nothing for him. Imagine the conversation with Shero after announcing the Boston trade at noon.

"Hey Ray you want Iginla?"

"What about your deal with Boston you tubby b!tch?"

"He won't go to Boston it's you or nothing, would you mind putting a little lube on it before shoving it in?"

"Nope it's going in dry and hard, Happy Easter you fat (frank)!"
