I have no doubt there was a lot of smoke blowing. He could hardly contain his excitement to go to Pitt & out of this rathole. One thing that amused me is during his presser he refered to the rebuild or whatever. He knew full well Ken King hates, just hates the word rebuild. You say rebuild & that impacts ticket sales and the sponsorship revenue & potential price increases. You will never ever hear Ken King say the word rebuild. He will give you every other name possible. I think Jarome was pissed he got the light shined on him for how this thing went down. Whatever, its done, we can actually start building a contender again. As KK would say, we can now retool & go a new direction.
- Kevin R

I don't think Flames fans are so dim as to be fooled by word semantics. King may hate the word, but the fans know whats up.

Iginla had a NTC...he could have gone, nowhere.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Whatever Colin, he gave his list of 4 teams & if he didn't want to go anywhere else but Pittsburgh, he should have just told Feaster it's Pittsburgh or nowhere.

You people have to get over the fact he played in Calgary for 16yrs & think he can do no wrong when in fact he did do wrong, he duped Feaster & the organization into thinking he had 4 teams he would report to when in fact he only wanted Pittsburgh.

That's brutal on his part & I don't give a rats ass how much you think if him.

Feaster neglecting due dilligence again. Iginla didn't have to waive at all.
- sanfordnson

As soon as he gave the list. He waived for those 4 teams. He went back on his word.

Yeah Im sure he never made his feelings known, and also stood soooo much to gain by trolling the organization that's been his home for 16 years. Considering Feaster's sparkling record as a GM, it's also impossible that he failed to get clarification from Iginla about exactly where he wanted to be.

I truly don't get some of the Iginla venom Im seeing. Guys being villified for maximizing his chances to win after toiling in mediocrity for years.

Why don't you start reporting the truth instead of trying to make Iggy look like the good guy??

What ever. He still played for the Flames for 16 years & accomplished a lot with this organization. True fans dont just dwell on how this ended. Yeah, many of us are pretty disappointed how the last 3 years have gone. There were so many debates & bickering amongst ourselves as to "trade or not", it was starting to ruin all the good he has done for this franchise & so much in the community. He was well compensated for it but rewards were had by both. It's over, amen. Time to move on, to retool, to regenerate. These next 6 days & the draft are our Stanley Cup, I would rather get excited about where we are heading to, finally try to establish an identity of what this team is all about. While Iggy was here, that was never going to happen. So in the end, who cares.

If you guys are doing a big change (this is just my opinion not sure on Flames fans take on it) bring back the Flame horse that was a bad *ss emblem

Hey, I see your boy RC is fixated on acquiring JBO. Personally I would never want to give the Oil a piece that help them take the next step to regularly kicking our butts, but I do think it's one of the better trade fits if JBO is willito waive for Edmonton. Not sure he would, maybe if you guys were in like 7th place or something, he wants playoffs badly. What would be a palatable overpayment(because to give you guys JBO would have to be overpayment) Parjarvi, Smid & Oiler 2013 1st for JBO & a 2014 2nd?

Yeah I liked that Jersey too. Was reading on another Flames thread an interesting proposal for the Devils. Seeing you guys have to give up either a 2013 or 2014 1st, would you guys be willing to give your 2013 1st, Larsen(how has he been doing this year, really havent heard too much of him this year) & Clarkson for JBO & our 2013 1st we got from Pitt, & then you know it gointo be a cruddy pick & give that 1st up instead of next years 1st?

I love Larsson kid thinks the game at a high level is 20 and 6`3 210 or something he hasn`t gotten much pp time though so his pts aren`t what they could be but he is someone who has a high ceiling and with Stevens as our defensive coach I want to see him stay a devil Clarky I love but man I don`t wanna over pay for him he was showing he deserved it the first half of the season but he has 4 pts in his last 20 so if teams are willing to overpay to add him I would move him lots of devil fans do not want to move him at all though but I just worry with some of the contracts signed like Sal for 3 years I really didn`t like that I would of prefered 1 and then you can add a year if needed instead of him sucking and being stuck with him and Zajac hasn`t earned his new contract and it is starting to look ugly I mean he is great defensively that is the type of forward he is but I still expect 55-65 points from him and he hasn`t shown that type of production this season and he is signed for 8 years

Nobody will ever know the truth about what went on with the trade. And really it's all done and in the past. Time to move on. I am looking forward to the coming weeks/months to see the path the team takes now. As far as Jbo is concerned I think the flames will do well in that trade. Teams want a Dman like him and they will overpay to get him now no matter what people think of his contract. JMO

Sorry Colin, I think you're one of the better bloggers round these parts. Straight forward, fair and credible. I have to disagree with you on this one though, Iginla may come back to Calgary, but it won' t be until he has retired and returns to the Saddle dome to be honored and have his Jersey retired...
