26 roster players before the move today.
They either have someone coming back from IR and need the spot or a trade is in the works.
My guess is Clowe or Pommer. - dadeadhead
Do you think Darcy would trade Pommer within the division though? I just don't see him doing that. And honestly, Pommer is one of those players that I would hate to see in the division. I know the argument is that if the player was that good you wouldn't trade him in the first place, but I would still hate it. |

I dont get why Darcy wants to blow this thing up by offering Pommer and Miller on the block?
We have enough solid prospects that we could be a solid team in a year or two...not 3 or 4
Heck lines next year alone could look like
Van Hodge Pom
Foligno Grigo Ennis (ennis needs to be back at wing...not realistic center option)
Leino Ott Foligno/Drouin/Free Agent/Whatever
X X X who cares
*Staff gone for some towels and skate guards
Myers Hoff
Sekera Weber
Pysyk Mcnabb
I really dont see a major problem here...granted not a cup contending team but for sure has a chance at cracking the playoffs |

I dont care where they trade him and I dont think Darcy does either. Take the best deal. I could be wrong on how darcy feels, but Id like to think he'd take the best deal. |

They have wanted him for years.
They offer say Tinordi and a 2013 1st(for any Habs fan lurking you know trades between division teams are always an over pay), you take it and run. |

Have you watched this team this year? It's god awful. They need some serious changes and that starts with getting a return for players like Pommer and Miller since their contracts are up after next year anyway.
Besides, the goal shouldn't be to just get to the playoffs, it should be to win the Cup. This roster as currently constructed is nowhere close to accomplishing that.

So you have Ott at center when he isnt a center and Ennis on wing when he has proven to be a better center than wing?

Crosby just took a rocket puck to the face. Didn't look good at all. Caught him right in the mouth, just below the visor. - The_Inkwell

Stafford born in 1985
Okposo born in 1988
Stafford ppg avg .604
Okposo ppg avg .574
Stafford $4 mil cap hit for 2 more years
Okposo $2.8 mil cap hit for 3 more years
In the cap era where the cap is going down next year he has the opportunity to trade the same type player for the same type of player but younger and 1.2 mil cheaper. He should be shot for not making the move IMO. - dadeadhead
the only negative is he is stuck with his contract for an extra year....that being said I still agree with you.

2.8 mil for a 25yr old that could be very well a 50pt player in the cap era is a bargin.
If he continues down the same path as he is now it isn't a hard contract to move in the future.
It's a win/win for us IMO. We rid ourselves of a 4 mil cap hit, get younger, and he is a 40-50 point player when healthy.
IMO it's just good cap management. |

Remember in the World Cup like 3 or 4 years ago when that British goalie let in one of the worst goals probably of all time... yeah I'm pretty sure a lot of people in the UK sent him death threats after that. |

If Sidney Crosby got hit in the face with a puck and he was playing in the forest, would he make any noise when he cry's ?? |

I think he'd look kinda cute if he wore a pair of bunny ears !
Imagine how funny he'd look skating with little bunny ears blowing kisses.

Agree. You have the chance to save 1.8M on the cap for an identical player, its a no brainer. I'm willing to bet that NYI offered straight up, and Darcy wanted something like Stafford + 3rd for Okposo + 2nd and NYI wouldnt budge, so Darcy never pulled trigger. |
