IMO if Darcy has the stones, Pommer will be a Hab by Wednesday.
They are clearing space for something. |

I don't think that's true. They could have put an A on Regehr. Or Ehrhoff. I hated Staff having a letter last year and I've hated it even more this year. - HonkFortheGoose
i dont think that changes team one bit with different captains but same roster. if they are "standing up in the room" then they are doing regardless of a letter. team is mentally weak, with few individual exceptions. |

Girgensons was already the captain on some sort of Latvian national team as a 17 year old... - Sabres2012CUP
good start, but who knows. other than the top few players, you never know who is actually going to make it. |

Crosby just took a rocket puck to the face. Didn't look good at all. Caught him right in the mouth, just below the visor. |

because he loves his own players.
Okposo is having a Stafford like year though, he has not been good. - Homer
i've liked okposo in the past but if i had to objectively look at that deal, i would probably keep stafford in that case. okposo might be signed for less and longer but 1.) you could probably still get something either (younger player or draft pick) for staff 2.) okposo is basically the same as stafford but imo with a little less upside and then your'e stuck with a bad player for longer, even if he is cheapier.
I don't disagree with not doing that deal at all and i'm no stafford lover at all, far from it. |

Do you honestly think someone will claim him? If not, they're only getting $900,000 in cap relief. |

900k is like a 3 mil player come the deadline.

That $900,000 is going to be prorated as well though. It's $900,000 in cap relief for the year. |

Okposo is a 7th overall pick. I would argue that he has more upside than Stafford does at this point because he's younger. |

He's going to be bought out next year anyways.
Leads me to think they needed the roster space for a player coming in via trade and aren't giving up a roster player to get him.

Stafford is -11. Okposo is -5. I would argue that Okposo is better at playing defense than Stafford is. |

It's just not as much space as you think if he doesn't get claimed. Realistically, it's about 300k. Obviously that's better than nothing, especially since he's not really playing anyway, but that's not a whole ton to work with either. |

I hope you aren't using +/- numbers in your thinking.
He's 24 going on 25, his upside hasn't been reached yet. |

What about Leino. Quite frankly he's one of the few players right now that's playing decently, what should we do with him? |

Hard to play bad when you watch 2 periods from the bench.
I haven't hated his game when he's in though. This team needed a guy like him that's good at puck possession. It's something that is seriously lacking on this team. |

26 roster players before the move today.
They either have someone coming back from IR and need the spot or a trade is in the works.
My guess is Clowe or Pommer. |
