He's not captain material. I said it last year and I'll continue to say it.

This season is showing that it is the weight is to much for him.

The fact he was named captain practically doomed his future with this organization.

All the more reason to give it to Ott.

If Pommer were to get moved, I would say they should just go with some As and see who really steps up and takes a hold of the leadership role.

A lot of Canucks fans mentioned that Cody could flourish in more of a leadership role. I don't know if I've seen a lot of that from him yet, but there have been a few things that could point that way.

They won't strip him of it.

I know, which is why they should trade Jason.

IDK, Cody seems like that guy that when he talks, he doesn't know if he's coming or going.

I could see that as a future possibility but he's still a youngster, I'd rather see a vet get the honour first.,

I haven't actually seen too many interviews with him, so I can't say that I've seen that.

I do remember the game when he made Eric Staal look like a bumbling idiot on the ice though, as soon as he scored that amazing goal, as he's celebrating he looks up at the clock to see how much time is left. It was really late in that game and even with that goal they were still down by 1.

Things like that tell me that he could be a leader, I just don't know if he's ready yet.

I could see Foligno wearing a letter down the road though too.

Why? This doesn't seem to have worked out so well for us in the past. There's plenty of "youngsters" in the league that have been given the C and done well with it. I'm not saying that they should do it, just that it's pretty silly to assume you shouldn't just because they're young.

He's no Crosby though. He needs to prove his leadership quality here first and I don't see it.... yet. Maybe in the coming years yes.

I wasn't saying that Hodgson should get it. I was making a general statement that just because a guy might be young doesn't mean they can't do it.

Vinny was given it young and gave it up to Andreychuk.

Gotta know when you can do it and have it work and when you can't. That's the example of someone who wasn't ready yet.

But I'm pretty sure that any of the guys on our team are older than Lecavalier was when it was given to him.

It was for only one year, and he was 20-21.

I would need another year to see Hodgson before I would say whether or not he would be capable of handling it, but he strikes me as the type that would step up to the task.

Based on the way that Foligno sounds during his interviews, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with it at some point down the road though.

i really don't think it matters a whole lot who the captain and the assistant captains are. it's just more telling that pomm and stafford are a c and an a. in other words, we don't have better players to put the letters on.

That will come more with age I think. He's been a lot better since Rolston sat him for that one game. He's been playing they style he should. He needs to use his size and throw his body around and he's doing that again. He wasn't do that under Lindy and it was like he was lost on what to do.

I think they'll definitely be part of the leadership group on this team in a few years. Girgensons had a pretty solid game against Syracuse on Wednesday.

I don't think that's true. They could have put an A on Regehr. Or Ehrhoff. I hated Staff having a letter last year and I've hated it even more this year.

4.25 cap hit, another year left, 35yrs old, 43 points in 106 games since he left Toronto, and has only played in 10 games this year.

Girgensons was already the captain on some sort of Latvian national team as a 17 year old...
