Horrible idea, makes no sense for the flames. Why trade a player that could help a rebuild for a UFA Rental when your team has no chance of making the playoffs?

Your last few trade ideas have been pretty bad actually, no logic especially if you are the other team involved. We will not get Lucic, the Bruins are in a cup race and won't take away a key piece of their team during their run.

I wrote at another forum that our new defense man would come more than likely from a team that has a boat load of defense, needs offense, and help on the powerplay. They also are in a race for the playoffs, and want to avoid 8th place and try and grab 7th to avoid the Pens in the first round. That team is the Rangers, who we have a lot of history with over the years.

I suggested hemsky, a player (whitney/Jones/Petrell) and a draft pick for Del Zotto or equivalent. makes a lot of sense, as both teams each deal from their positions of strength, and shore up a big weakness.

The newer generation of suits in the repective flames and oilers offices have a very strong relationship. We both work with the same governments when dealing with lotto revenue and associated regulatory issues, as well as many other facets. The working relationship between the two offices started prior to the previous cba. When both teams were trying ti get every break from the provincial government and maximize revenue streams. Right up including different ways to milk the most of out arena space. An example is officials from the saddle dome were wondering how the oilers managed to have concesion space in the bsmt and toured the building to see it work.

So if they get along real well and the teams collectively are heading in the opposite direction of bottom it only makes sender to work together at an arms length on the ice as well.

Richard, I love your blogs but lately your predictions have really been off base ? Please stop just throwing stuff out there unless you have some credible inside info. And in addition STOP STOP STOP STOP this JB trade stuff to our beloved Oilers. He is not worth 6+ million a year with today's salary cap. Plus his contract length (6) is a real stumbling block. I do agree with some of the comments made regarding this scenario that JB would not wave his NTC so that makes me happy. Section 128 seats 19 & 20 would rather see another D playing along with Justin.
