Yeah, but he still got us a nice return considering what has happened to his career. His play hasn't been all that bad, but its as if these other teams acquiring him were expecting to receive Chris Pronger or something. His job isn't to score goals, his job isn't to be a bruiser, he's a slick PMD, good for the occasional goal, positionally sound, more of a setup man for a Dman that can tee it off, for example McCabe, or Phaneuf. - ThePresident
the problem with kaberle isnt that he doesnt hit, but he bails out whenever someone is going to hit him.. which makes him horribly weak defensively..
he is a shell of his former self.. and wouldnt work under carlyle at all. |

no thank you
got liles and gardiner. both better than kabs - Dozzer
I think he'd be good for depth going into the playoffs, and especially if we need to dangle Gunner in a trade...I mean one of our Dmen gets injured, whos next in line? Holzer....not much depth right now. Not saying they're not better at this point, but do believe Kaberle would regain some of his form playing back in Toronto. |

That's why if we have any chance of contending in the Playoffs, we must shore up our Defense, and acquire an elite goaltender. |

its on gardiner.. not carlyle.. this isnt a matter of benching him out of dislike.. he is benched because a defenseman is supposed to play defense first, not put it second to offense.
everyone has a gardiner hard on cause he's a good skater and he's flashy.. but flashy doesnt win hockey games
gardiner should be in the AHL still developing his defensive skills.. but the call up has nixed that chance now. it was a mistake to bring him up.. he wasnt ready
hopefully the "play the body" practice sunk in and he gets back in tonight |

He seemed ready last year, should just let him continue to play. His strength is offense, and when watching games, you can clearly see that him being in the lineup changes the way the other team plays, more cautious, he opens up so much more opportunities with his passing and skating abilities. I'd prefer him on the team over Kostka any day, he adds an element to the Leafs PP that you can't teach, everyone already knows that defense isn't his strong point, so play him with a stay at home defender, they're ruining his confidence, and his game. See what he can do. |

none of what you are saying isnt true.. but you fail to include the negative aspects of his game
all of this stuff offensively doesnt mean jack poop if he is continually getting beat in his own end.
defense first, offense second.
like i said.. hopefully the extra practice will be enough for the message to sink in. and you mentioned kadri earlier.. he was developed properly.. left in the AHL to work out all the bugs in his game. he wouldnt of made the leafs under carlyle in his first couple of seasons either. with his big wide circles.. lack of effort on the back check etc. leaving under eakins is what has made him a good player. that element of his career was critical.
and the length of time he was left in the AHL is grossly over exaggerated (kadri). he was only there for a bout 1 and half seasons worth of games. |

Kaberle on waivers, should the Leafs make a claim? Maybe he can play alongside Phaneuf...decent PMD at this point in his career. Maybe he'll regain some of his form playing back at home....I'd rather him over Kostka, Komisarek, Holzer...not to mention it would make Gunnarsson more expendable in a trade. - ThePresident
Why in the balls would they do that? We sat here for 2 or 3 years trying to get rid of the guy. |

So apparently the Leafs are trying to send Bozak and a pick to the Canucks for Luongo, then turn around and either acquire Roy or Ribeiro....not such a bad plan, but don't want to give up too much. |

I'd guess it'd be Bozak and a 2nd.
Ribeiro would be a great move, but with his play and some of the poop players are being traded for, you have to think his price starts at a 1st. |

If that's what the price tag is for Luongo at this point, I'd do it in a heart beat.
Ribeiro for a first, you're probably right, but not so sure I'd want to give up a first for him, although it would be a late first rounder. |

Screw that! he burned his bridges, when be became part of the Muskoka 5. What was the deal he nixed to Philadelphia? Jeff Carter and a first? - PrinceLH
The Muskoka 5 proved that Burke's replacements were much softer.. especially the coach... so for me Kaberle would be an improvement.. on half of our D roster... will Phaneuf... a dude that could pas him the puck might just help..
