I don't see them letting Dupuis walk away and I don't see them getting him at the bargain price of 1.5M that he's currently getting either.

Lets look at it like this... they don't NEED 26 players on the roster.

They will most likely go with 23.. like most teams.. or possibly 24. So they would sign probably 2 or 3 of those players to around league minimum.. so lets say 700 grand to be safe. So 2.1 million gone between 3 players... so that leaves about 8.8 million roughly for 4 players. So you are looking at 2.2 million per player. Or you could sign 2 for around 1.5 million. Which would leave almost 6 million to sign the final 2 players. You can get a pretty decent 3rd liner/2nd liner for around 3 million. Or they could afford to keep morrow for around 4 million and get lesser players after that.

They can afford to keep kennedy at about 3 million.. and dupuis for about 2.2 maybe. And even then should be alright. Filling that 4th line with some grinders and fighters making league min.. and their 6th/7th Defenseman with some rookies and they are still in better shape than a lot of teams.

Love him. Perfect compliment to Malkin. Smart player, nice touch, and willing to go into dirty areas. When he adds a little more muscle it will give him even more time and space. He is still recovering from broken wrist from college so his shot will come around too. Very pleasant surprise this year. Being right handed is also nice, Pens are predominately left handed.

Only Penguins forward worth a damn in their prospect pool so he needs to be good.
