I don't disagree with any of this. I want a new GM here as well to move forward with.
- PLindbergh31

That's fair as well, but I have a feeling that Homer has more chances. Lavi is gone IMO..

I've thought of that too. It's got to be exasperating to play goal for that team. But then you look at the numbers...Flyers have allowed the fifth most goals despite allowing the eighth fewest shots per game. Hard to figure out this team
- Dkos

A good number of those goals have come from odd-man rushes, which lets face it, is pretty much crapshoot to NHL goaltenders.

I personally think that he is worth more then a second, the sens took advantage of the blues misplaced faith in Brian Elliot. Bishop has 5+ years of professional development and was one of the best goalie in the AHL when he played there last. I can only base my opinion on what I have seen of him since coming into Ottawa, but he seems to have been a really reliable goalie his entire career, and there is no reason to think that wouldn't be the case if he went to Philly.

He is a good goalie but there isn't much of a market for goaltenders. A 2nd rd pick seems to be the centerpiece of most trades i have seen except for stars. If Bishop goes on a crazy playoff run like Halak did a few years ago, maybe he will be worth more. But Ottawa only has him as a rfa for one more year. After that teams can get him for free. He is currently third on the Senators depth chart so I doubt he will want to sign long term with the Senators to be a backup his whole career.

I'd probably do that, actually.

That's fair, but the Flyer's second round pick will probably be between #31 and #35 overall. If Ottawa can get a first rounder out of someone else, then more power to them.
- Feanor

I never said that anyone was going to trade a 1st round pick to the Sens, especially since this draft year is considered deep. I think bishop is worth more than a second round pick, something more along the lines of a roster player. The Blues and Sens both have put a lot of development time into him and that coupled with the fact that he is a good professional goalie makes him worth more then a unproven kid. In my opinion anyway

I keep a close eye on as many Sens rumors as possible, and i have been seeing that Philly might be one of the main parties interested in Bishop. If you were the Fliers GM what would you be willing to offer for Bishop? Would you be willing to do a straight flip of Bishop for Couturier?
- dhamon316

Dear God. You want Cooter for Bishop? That's insanity especially when tending isn't our issue. Cooter was the 8th overall pick in 2011 who played fantastic last year in the playoffs vs malkin...He is in a sophomore slump this year. I would have considered trading him for Weber, but for Bishop? You are massively over valuing Bishop or undervaluing Cooter.

I have no argument with that statement, and I was only suggesting that Bishop is worth more then a single second round pick.
- dhamon316

how about Karlsson and Bishop for the flyers #1?

I disagree that the team is ill assembled. It has some holes that need to be filled. But that's true of a lot of teams. Teams that are in a playoff spot. Do you think Ottawa has all the peices it needs?
- MJL

There was nothing wrong with the offensive look of this team going into the season. They have a huge hole without a true # 1 Dman.Homer tried to fill it...via FA. I believe will he will be desparate to fill that void this off season......

If Bryz plays the next seven seasons here at or around the same level of his first two seasons as a Flyer were are also massively screwed.

Basically, he has next season to get back to being a .920 goalie in regulation and a .650 shootout goalie, or he has to be bought out because no one is going to trade for his contract.

- Feanor

There is no way Bryzgalov, or possibly any goalie, is going to have a.920 save percentage playing behind this level of team defense. I personally beleive that if this team drastically improved defensively, Bryzgalov's current level of play would result in a more then adequate SV% of GAA. Bryzgalov is not the problem in my opinion.

So Laughton has 2 solid weeks (offensively) in a row, and now he is getting compared to Doug Gilmore?
- jak521

Yup .....oh and that's 8 weeks in a row....that's who this kid reminds me of....Gilmour was a great third line defensive guy when he came up and Laughton has that. It's the offence and mean streak, that has started to show....the same as what 'killer' had....will he be as good?..... How the hell do I know....just saying what I think...on an Internet board...

wonder how many goals the bruins will score tomorrow with our current d situation, if i was lavvvy i would start leighton for sake of keeping bryz in his skin.

Maybe a borderline prospect.. I wouldn't give more than a 2nd pick for a 26 yr old goalie who has never proven himself at this level for long stretches. We got a 2nd for Bobrovsky..and I think Bob is better.

That says alot doesn't it about the depth of the Flyers blueline and farm system. Years of going for it all have left the Flyers farm system, at least for the near future, very barren. I defy you to find one person who is projected to be a top 6 forward or a top 4 defenseman other than maybe Ghost.
- Flyers_01

What says a alot about the depth on the Flyers blueline and farm system. Because a poster says he'll be in the top 4? Is that a fact?

Quote from the Nationals GM Mike Rizzo in an article published today:

“The worst thing you can do, I think, is when you have a plan in place and early returns don’t work, abandoning it and having another plan on the fly.”

So to recap, the goaltending issue still isn't solved, the team has a bunch of overpaid players prone to injury, and the pipeline is a barren wasteland.

Everyone put their shades on, the future is blindingly bright.

- PLindbergh31

I'd be concerned if any of that was actually true. Since it's not, I'm not concerned.

He was playing well at the beginning of the year but lately he's been average at best imo. Too inconsistant for the money being invested. Not enough bang for the buck.
- stveshdy

I don't agree with this. He's certainly cooled off some since his hot start to the season, but average at best is selling him short. As for the money, well, I won't argue that the contract is good. He and his cap hit have not been an impetus for the Flyers this season, though.

I think they were done the first week of March when they lost to the Rangers, Penguins and Bruins... that was all she wrote.

So we have Cousins (as long as he doesn't end up in prison) Laughton, as well as, hopefully a top 5 pick which I expect will be a forward. I think we need to start dangling a roster forward + picks and/or the players listed above, should be enough to get us a #1 d guy.

Would you mind rephrasing that response because I have no idea what the heck you just said?

If you are talking about Ghost and think he's not going to be top 4. I'm not going to argue with you one way or the other but put it in some sort of coherent thought.
