I proposed getting rid of loser points. Because only in the NHL can you lose three ways and get rewarded in two of those three (OTL, SOL).

I'd rather they go this way:
Regulation win: 3 points
Overtime win: 2 points
Shootout win: 1 point
Any loss: 0 points

It sure would make teams play harder in the third.

- Flyskippy

I agree this isn't third grade no need to reward teams that lose.

Can you give a brief scouting report on Monahan? Don't know anything about him.
- ravishingone

He's considered NHL ready, 2 way forward, all situations player.

According to ISS

"Big bodied, versatile Foward. Lethal scoring ability & awareness in all zones. Leads by example."

i'm a big proponent of each game being worth 2 points no matter what.

here's my plan:
2 points for a win
1 point for each team in the event of a tie.

This would be ideal, but the skills competition isn't going anywhere. Just drop the loser point if it has to be this way, imo.

Pretty big measureables as a teenager already. So I'm assuming he projects as top 6 forward, but as a winger or center or too early to tell?

Subban is going to be a stud. Love that kid.
- stveshdy

And that's why I cried 6 weeks ago to trade coots for him. I'd add whatever needed within reason Of course. Ahh nevermind the great coots is going to put up 25-30 goals and be a selke winner so I'm told do guess I'm still crazy

He can play both, I was lucky to see him live while in Ottawa last year. Yes a top 6 forward projection.

i'm hoping a traditionalist takes over when bettman (god willing) dies.

i just envision a guy peeing on the desk chair to mark his territory, getting rid of the shootout, and then getting to work as commish.

I know its only a half a season on a very good team for Stolarz, how impressed have you been with his play? I really hope they make it to the Memorial Cup so I can watch him on the NHL Network.

He played well in the series sweep against Saginaw but the last game and a half to me it looked like Saginaw mailed it in and didn't offer up much of a fight.

He'll for sure face more challenges the more London advances.

Yeah, that plan was the best until Bettman and his cadre of folks who care not a whit for tradition messed it up.

Well, I can honestly say I've never been excited by the idea of a man peeing on a chair until I read this post.

Let me preface my statement by writing I despise the point system of the league right now. With that being written, I read an article I believe last year that Lava really didn't spend any time in practice for the skills competition. Those extra points that can be acquired I never understood why Lava would be so willing to give away. It really makes no sense. I get there is only so much practice time.

I've had a few rants myself, but this one beats them all. Cant let the wheels completely come off, it is just a message board.

I figure, if you're good at hockey, you should be good at a hockey skills competition. That said, I heard more about them practicing shootout stuff on the rare occasion after that story came out.

Well, the shootout (breakaway) doesn't happen too much in a game usually. Of course, the Flyers team D has made it more of a staple in games this season.

If I recall last year, the Pens and Flyers basically had the same points, but the Pens had 8 more points based off of shootout victories. That is a ridiculous number.

It's worth considering, but at the same time I think it's more important to remember there are no shootouts in the playoffs.

Just a thought... I've been highly critized for ideas and trade proposals by a few members and was thinking when there are around ten people on here maybe we should just take a Poll about whaTever is being discussed at the time when there seems to be an imposse at whatever that topic is then move on. Might help stop the hostility?

Not to harsh your buzz, but there's no need for consensus, either. It's an internet forum, there's no winners, only losers.

There is an ignore user feature, but it's manual transmission. A number of us have to use it on the incessant female doging about MJL.

Now that would be horrible. I still remember staying up till after 2am to watch Primeau finally score against Tugnett and the Pens. That was such a surreal game.
