By the way, an interesting stat. Apparently 13% of NHL games have gone to a shootout in the past seven years. Probably right to be concerned about it.

One out of every seven+? sounds plausible.

If that's accurate, then it's an even bigger farce than I'd thought.

I think shoot-outs would reduce if you got 3 points for a win instead of 2. Then the final 5 minutes of a tied game would actually mean something. But hey, that's just me.

I think they're an abomination on principle, but if they have to have them then they definitely should be worth less than if you actually ... y'know, WIN.

You couldn't do that unless you made all regulation wins 3 points as well, which I guess is possible.

Yep that's where I was going with it. I mean Jsaq might have to take off his shoes to count that high but that's the only detriment I see so far...

You mean

Regulation / Overtime Win = 3 pts
Shootout Win - 2 pts.
Overtime/Shootout Loss = 1 pt.

Right?

I like this. I almost half like a radical idea to remove the shootout and play until someone wins, playoff style. I know this would never happen. NHLPA would never accept it.

But my logic is that it would not be anything like the playoffs, where teams tighten up the further into overtime periods. I think the opposite - it would be more wide open because there would be more pressure to end the game and save your energy for the next game, especially on a back-to-back.

Probably stupid, and PA would hate it, but better than SO.

I personally like this format

3 points for regulation win
2 points for OT win
1 point for shootout win
0 points for any loss

A contract negotiation is a completely different situation then evaluating a player on the ice. Do you think a team when it's choosing who to sign as a free agent simply goes on NHL.com and looks at his stats? Or do they send their pro scouting and player personell people to actually watch the player, play?

You're blindly comparing stats of players on different teams. And ignoring all the variables that are involved. How many Goalies that play on solid defensive teams, wouldn't come here and have their numbers suffer? it involves some speculation, but I'd say a lot of them.

Hahahaha, is your favorite shape a circle? Cause you go around in circles shoveling bullpoop. You contradict yourself with everything you say. It's actually hilarious!! Dude, there is a reason you don't work for an NHL team and it's bc you are clueless. Your Justin Schultz reasoning is vague and so inaccurate it's not even funny... "Because he plays for Edmonton?" News flash, he'd be the best defenseman on this team if be were here. As for comparing Bryz to other goalies, why can't you? There aren't other bad defensive teams out there? Bryz hasn't been bad, but he hasn't been good. Goals like Nash and Richards scored the other night occur way more then he makes that big save to "keep the Flyers in games they shouldn't be in."

Seeing as I'm looking at a ban for calling you out again, I'm going to say this. Because you say "in my opinion" it doesn't absolve you of being an bumhole. You harass people on here and you are the reason myself and Butsy take more to twitter then this site.. Frankly most of what you say offends me and ruins MY experience on here and this causes me not to bother to visit it. I'm sure I'm not alone in the way that I feel. The Mods really need to consider a solution to the problem that is you. If someone gives you an answer of how they feel you make them explain it in depth so you can pick it apart. But then Tomahawk (who I respect) makes a fair point and you give him a vague answer and get all whiney when he asks you to explain it. THAT, sir, is the EXAMPLE of hypocrisy. I will take this ban and then I will not come to this site again because of you. I literally came here to have an informed conversation about the situation my favorite team is in. Not have a pissing match over how much MJL knows. All your supposed cap knowledge, player evaluation skills, and brilliant assessments has got you nothing. Congrats you sit home everyday and post on the Internet about a team that gives two poops about your opinion and to a group of individuals who hate you. I hope you now realize how truly pathetic your life is and how alone you really are.

You sure do assume a lot. Seems to me you are the one on here crying like a baby. If you cant handle his arguments feel free to go away. The simplest thing to do would be to answer his questions, realizing he is trying to take you in a direction that makes you rethink your own opinions and to back them up. Saying, "because I say so", or "because its my opinion" just doesn't cut it here.

female doging about him because he makes you think? Well......
