I'm ready to tank. I'm as avid a fan as the next guy, but if you clearly have no chance in the playoffs....why bother even attempting to get there? Why shoot for 9th? We need a great draft pick. Screw it. Tank.

The thing is: How do you tell guys that probably won't be a part of the rebuild to tank? You're basically telling them to be miserable for the greater good that is 5 years away and they won't even be a part of it...

Oh of course. I wouldn't expect the team to lie down and die. But as far as media and fans are concerned I think it'd be in our best interest to sink as low as possible. And that's a sh1tty thing to say.

I agree completely and want us to tank entirely, but I really wonder how the teams like Pittsburgh/Chicago/Edmonton got their guys to buy into tanking seasons.

Because drafting Crosby, Malkin, Fleury (meh) Kane, Toews, and Hall is a totally awesome thing to be able to do.

Myers shouldve gotten a "bridge" contract.

3 years at around 3.5M.

PROVE to us that you deserve the big one.

- theblueandgold

They all should get bridge contracts. Look at the Leafs payroll compared to the Sabres. Darcy's crazy. That's how they ruined Stafford.

It needs to sink a little faster. That darn one point they got needlessly.

How many of those have we gotten this year? We can't even lose right. I really couldn't tell what team was less interested tonight

What i don't understand is why are people scared of trading the three.
Pommer is a solid player who could get a nice return. He is stuck with a c on his chest he has to be traded if you want to change the culture in room.
Vanek is awesome and could get a great return. He is in his late 20's has taken a huge beating and I dont see him signing a long term deal hear.
Miller is hugely overated and needs a change. Hiss GAA is very average but does have trade value.
None of these core guys have won us anything. Its time for Pegulla to put his stamp on team.

Long term deals didnt kill Stamkos or Kane or Crosby or even Vanek.
Staffords lack of heart and work ethic killed stafford

Vanek by no means has, over an entire season, been worth the $7.12M cap hit. I get it, i get it, Vanek lovers are going to tell me he had no control over his contract. Doesnt matter. He has never played like a $7.12M player.

They have a legitimate excuse though, a ton of injuries.

i heard on the radio the other day that the Sabres Brass & Darcy acknowledge this team just doesn't have chemistry.

23 of our 34 games have been by 1 goal. Our record is 9-9-5 in those games. Only 2 games this month have been by more than 1 goal.

This is why I am afraid Darcy won't trade any of the main guys. Like WGr was saying, he believes this year is just a fluke.

Darcy will trade ANYONE on the roster if the return is fair or he wins the trade. He will not trade just for the sake of making a trade as he has stated before and why would he. I know it would make everyone on this board happy to see a trade but why us everyone trying to give our players away with no solution in place to get better?

Everyone wants Miller traded so badly without a proven goalie on the roster or coming back our way how does that make us better. Unless you have amazing all around skilled skaters on your team like the hawks you won't get very far especially in the playoffs.

Kind of like Ennis signed?

I think they should try to do something like that with Hodgson, though I don't know how well that's going to work.

- HonkFortheGoose

I really don't want to (frank) around with Hodgson. I would be ok with signing him to a 5 year or other long term deal. I don't want a O'Rielly situation here, we want Hodge in our future and we don't need that poopty drama.

Miller to StLouis?
Their goaltending has killed them this year (team save% of .899)

I wouldn't think they'd trade Backes...
But he only has 3 goals this year, so maybe?
I'd love to get him

Prob just me being crazy again though

Since the pens are collecting captains why don't we send em' Pommers for the rest of their draft picks? Then they wouldn't have to spend any money on rooms for their scouts and brass at this years draft and they could use that loot to pay for keeping the cup filled with champagne...
