calgary HAS to trade whatever they can, cuz their prospect cupboards are EMPTY.
anybody on thier roster, not named baertschi (sp?) should be skating with a "for sale" sign on their jersey.
ottawa was MUCH different than calgary, where our core guys were, for the most part, still young and very talented (spezza, karlsson, michalek, cowen, etc). calgary's core is all old (think jbo is the youngest at 29), highly overpaid, and declining in skill.
maybe they keep a couple of vets, but there are absolutely no untouchables on that team......except the ONE i already named. - sensarmy_11
You need to hold onto some players. You need some solid vets.
I would unload JayBo and Cammeleari if I could - keep Glencross, Tanguay, Giordano and maybe Stempy with the rebuild.
If you can manage to get a first and a prospect for JayBo and maybe a first for Cammy (not too sure someone will bit on that cap hit, but ...), you can have four first round picks in one of the deepest drafts in a decade. |

Yeah but if you looked at that team, anyone could have predicted cups in the future. You look at the small forwards on the Oilers, does it look like they will be contenders with them? Nope. That's why it's funny when Oilers fans make fun of Calgary because they should tank and get all these picks. Look at Columbus? Look at NYI? Look at Florida? All pathetic teams like Edmonton. The only team who have done a proper rebuild is Ottawa and that pains me to say it. - Allstarzz
No oilers fan in this thread has done this. In fact, your the one making fun of the Flames! |

What? You have no idea what you are talking about. The most they missed in a row was 4 years, 3 in a row before the lockout.
Since the lockout the Penguins missed the playoffs once, the first season after the lockout (05-06). Since then they made the playoffs every year and after the "Crosby draft" it took them only 3 years to make the Finals (07-08) and 4 years to win the Cup (08-09).
The Oilers haven't made the playoffs since their miraculous Finals run in 05-06 as the 8th seed and have picked in the top 10 in every draft except for 08 (including 1st overall three years in a row). Also arguably their 08 draft when they didn't pick in the top ten still netted them a really good undersized winger in Eberle. The Oilers didn't just "start" rebuilding. - suppaman
Yes but Crosby was the last of 5 lotto picks in a row....of which two were firsts and two were seconds (even though that one second was like a 1b)... |

yea because it's really so far along our rebuild to judge how we're doing, i mean 2.5 years into and they haven't won a cup yet? pathetic - SpoiledByOil
Jesus Christ, it keeps getting shorter and shorter.
Soon, the rebuild won't start until this upcoming draft |

Yoou think he'll sign with the Flames? He's a UFA in August. Why wouldnt he just wait til then and see what all the offers are? - Iggysbff
Who knows...the nice thing about the Flames is that there is a lot of room for kids like this. In other organizations that chance just isn't there. Especially coming out of college as someone who isn't highly touted.

Another angle: Antoine Laganiere from Yale (Agostino's teammate) is one of the most highly touted College free agents this season....rumours have it the Flames feel they might be able to leverage him to sign in Calgary as they play on the same line. |

Feaster is going to take a lot of flack for this, but I would assume that Iggy wanted Pittsburg and Feaster got him there. All Feaster could do at that point is get as much out of Shero as possible.
Sure Iggy is worth more, but the team stood by their franchise player and got him where he wanted to go, not where they could get the best return - that's class. - GadesnSens
The only difference-maker for PIT over BOS was that the BOS offer was a conditional first... has nothing to do with class |

No idea...i'm not a scout, and have never seen him play. The Flames need to look long term...don't care if that is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 years down the road. - The-O-G
The guy Feaster wanted for Iggy, was Subban. He was picked 3 picks later. He really isn't that smart. |

When was the last time? A while ago. Teams on the right track with our STUD Kadri. He is leading our team to the playoffs, while your overrated kids can't. Enough said. And no Leafs fans are the most loyal. In the past 40+ years, there's many reasons not to follow this team. But we do because we love our Leafs no matter what. Unlike Edmonton fans. - Allstarzz

Just because he wanted to trade Iggy for Subban doesn't mean that he would rather have Subban over Jankowski!!!
In fact, it's completely irrelevant! |

Maybe... I think that would be touch and go.
I agree generally about keeping some vets, but ditching JayBo and Cammy and keeping those guys is not dissimilar to what the Oil did anyway |
