My thoughts?
Luongo is 35 with a decade or so left on his contract. Is not perfoming significantly better, if at all, than the two guys we have now. The two guys we have now are in their mid 20's or so, make less than Luongo combined, and deserve a shot to prove themselves.
Toronto hasn't made the playoffs in close to a decade. Lets not start rolling the dice to win now. We've made progress, let's see how far it can take us before we feel the only choice left is taking on an aging goalie with one of the worst contracts in the league.
Then on top of that, we trade assets that weaken our team? - systemtool

Seuin has more goals in fewer games played and is +22 compared to Kessel's -3. Kessel has more assists and points, ok. how is that way better? - DoubleDown

Everyone grades him by +/- now that hes producing points. Then when he isn't producing points and plays well defensively everyone grades him on point totals.
We know, he's one dimensional. That guy on the left side isn't playing well right now either. And hey, that guy in the middle can barely see anymore with that mop on his head. |

You cant compare plus/minus when its a Boston player vs Toronto....Kessel would be a +20 on Boston too....im talking performance vs performance this year overall.....Kessel is outplaying Seguin....PERIOD.

Lu aint comin to TO if everything remains status quo in TO up untill Apr 3. That means A) the Leaf goalies remain healthy & B) they continue to prove theu can handle the load as a duo.
Reimer deserves to remain the #1 goalie & Scrivens has proven he is more than capable of being a good backup. Nonis's reward to these 2 deserving goalies would be to just leave the netminding as it is. |

.78 ppg versus .97 ppg.....that is significant...but completely negated if you throw in the +/- according to DoubleD |

it's ok...let Seguin get drafted by the leafs instead of Boston...he get's here plays with zero talent...his +/- would be dreadful to match the rest of the teams he scores twice a year and 1 of them off his chin - he goes home and his mom says " it's ok son you can quit hockey if you want" and the leafs end up with nobody...so really the Leafs won the trade by 100,000 miles.

Plus the fact that Kessel plays against the top defense every game, while Seguin most certainly does not.
One day we're gonna stop hearing this Kessel vs Seguin poop and be content with the fact that we have a one of the high end offensive wingers in the game... |
