Lupul folks, BEAST. Carlyle is smart, when the leafs are down or need that extra goal, he puts the lupul bozak kessel line together just to get it - Mapleleafs_91
i think it's a little column a, little column b.. at the end of the day. probably c,d,e,f to.
there's alot of variables a hockey player considers before he signs a contract.. and media fan pressure may be a factor, but it's low on the list from what i've seen. of course.. there's always going to be that one person who just won't go somewhere because of it. but most players have familys, have their own goals, ambitions.. look for best scenarios that benefit their careers.. money obviously.
there's just alot of variables. - joel878
Surprised with Florida having no tax they wouldn't have more people going there.
oh absolutely. I wasn't disputing that... just saying it's also a factor. You seemed to be saying it wasn't a factor. It'a one that is emphasized by losing and reduced dramatically by winning.
Winning in a big market is awesome - who wouldn't want to do that? but losing sucks ass. - Big_Lightnin
i don't think i could argue it isn't a factor..
i think my stance is that there's a long list of factors that come before it. i realize that's a bit of a grey area, but i think it's low on the totem pole at the end of the day.

back to quality of play...
a player has to factor how their career is going to look for said team, gaining a beneficial contract afterwards may be a challenge if they get buried in a poor scenario.

no tax thing isn't what you think it is. No STATE income tax, but still paying federal. Now, nothing to sneeze at, still hundred of thousands to a big name player, but a big name player can easily make that up in local endorsement deals and charity dinners, etc in a market like Toronto or Montreal.
Housing would be a much bigger factor I think (and we're not winning that)
That was the hardest effort I ever seen for an empty net goal. - Yeti1181
@markhmasters: Franson on Kulemin's adventure on ENG: 'We were laughing on the bench ... You don't get much more entertainment out of an empty-net goal'
Since they need a center and are whining about it, might as well. I wonder what it would cost us to get kesler out of vancouver as well? - Mapleleafs_91
Too much I would think. I think we looking at a first and b prospect to start with gillis and I don't think he's worth it.

apparently not as much as it would take to get lander out of edmonton
