For a goaltender, 24 years old in his third season qualifies.

We're having a discussion you make a point i make a counter point that how things work. If your just going to get upset perhaps it's time to get your mom to tuck you in to bed and say good night.
- Yeti1181

your argument is childish.

you struck back twice with the same pile of crap, which i pointed out twice is basically irrelevant.

it just reaks of being nothing but a luongo fan boy, and no cause for further discussion.

the list of reasons why luongo would be a mistake is long, and it's been beaten to death. if you haven't grasped it by now.. there's probably not much hope.

(frank)ing get over it man. i'll point it out again. it is low on the list of reasons why luongo in toronto is insanity.

get over it.

- joel878

So if Luu comes to toronto, your basically going to what? Cry yourself to sleep everynight? Id be (frank)ing amped going into the playoffs with a reimer and luu tandem with how good the leafs have played so far this season with guys like phaneuf, lupul, kessel, kadri, JVR on his good stint stepping up

i mean sports wide my friend.

granderson, teixera, and sabathia, see their careers go down the drain when the went to new york? the media is pretty heavy there.. the same argument could be made in 30 different scenarios in football. it is the most watched sport in north america, by an insanely (frank)ing large margin..

the media thing in toronto has become a cop out. id be willing to bet, if the last 10 free agents to turn down toronto were to be asked if they didnt sign a contract because of the media, they'd respond with "really? i didn't sign there because it's been a (frank)ing poopshow there for the last 10 years. i want to play for someone respectable".

- joel878

dude. Seriously, pose the question to Dreger or MacKenzine on twitter and literally ask them if it's a factor. Guarantee the answer is yes. There have been several instances where players openly say they prefer to play in softer markets due to less media pressure.

it is not uncommon at all.

um... he's carrying the load. right now.

but he still hasn't played 100 career NHL games. That's still very inexperienced

- Big_Lightnin

Him scrivens still split a lot I ll admit last few he was playing more but still think more 1a 1b type

But there's no denying that even when we were respectable, we still didn't land anybody.

Seriously, I'm wracking my brain trying to remember the last big name FA's that signed here, going all the way back to the early 90's and beyond.

- Leeman4Gilmour

early 90's?

mogilny was later.. no? cujo was late 90's..

yeah, i see that point..

but this is the point of this debate i resort to the idea that signing big contracts on free agent day has been suicide for the most part..

Since Price's numbers are worse than Reimers, I guess that means Montreal is also going after Luongo as well?

We dont need Luongo or his contract. We have too many terrible contracts. If we get a goalie it should be someone like Bernier.

Who cares, leafs are finally good, grab a vet goaltender, run a luu and reimer tandem, kick the habs ass in playoffs. The end

of course you would be. but again, you are only looking at this year.

and you can get as amped as you want, Lu still doesn't let us beat Pittsburgh or Boston in a 7 games series.

Leafs aren't there yet. Lu doesn't make the difference. Get Reimer and Scrivens experience, and make a trade next summer... make a few, and upgrade the team with a better understanding of what your goalies can do in the playoffs.

My arguement is childish because I disagree with your views? There is lots of reason to bring him here too other than the contract a lot of the views are people speculative and opinions not facts.

sure said a lot after these words...

Malkin is a 1st line center playing 2nd line. Datsyuk is a 1st line center playing 2nd line (or was a lot).

how do J Staal's numbers compare to theirs? Datsyuk's pretty good defensively. nominated or wins the selke every year, still gets 90+pts.

that's how.

J Staal's a very good #2 on a lot of teams, and #1 on a few desparate teams who don't have a real #1 (Leafs are on that list).

but he's not a true #1. He doesn't have the offense.

- Big_Lightnin

oh now he's being compared to Datsyuk
Put Staal with JVR and Kessel and maybe he does score 90 points.
Maybe I'm wrong and he's a dud but I doubt it...Dat's played with some pretty good players...and HE IS 1 of the top players in the WORLD now your getting into some new topics. It's all good...Staal is a #2 centre but has never had a chance to play #1 due to ALL WORLD PLAYERS in front of him. Anyways...i'm a Getzlaf fan

Why do you want luongo so bad? Much better options in net. Bernier Reimer would hopefully push each other to preform better.

Good call on Cujo. Thought Almo was traded here, but he did sign.

The only names I could come up with were Blake, Lindros, and Allison. None of them were really big names (maybe Blake), but we overpaid to get him here. Badly.

I don't disagree that it's been a blessing in disguise, in some ways. Thank God Richards isn't in a Leaf uniform now!

That moment, when GM's are scared of bringing in big salary cap players. The price tag on luu will NOT be high at all. Plus nucks need a center, make them take grabo

they went with Scivens early cause he was in game shape, and Reimer was injured for 2 weeks, or it wouldn't be as even.

look at his game by game starts vs Scrivens - that isn't 1A=1B
