Come on guys. The Leafs just won again, are very likely making the playoffs and you guys are argueing Staal vs Kessel. They're both good players, not elite players. Staal is a complete player, Kessel will get you more points. Its simple.

Hopefully we can focus on our team, clinching a spot, and standings watch to see who our opponents will be. Life as a fan of the Toronto sports scene is looking up once again. Leafs relevant and playoff race, Jays relevant, Argos win. Good times ahead.

Have a good night. Go Leafs. Go Jays.

- systemtool

As an Edmontonian, I take exception to you bringing up the Argos.

Enjoy our QB.

career stats don't agree with this
- Big_Lightnin

ok...I'm done discussing...how would his stats agree??...he's never played it..he's never been given the chance as he is ALSO very good defensively.
frankn banging my head against the wall with you guys...
I would bet J Staal wins his 2nd cup before Kessel. ( I would love to lose the bet if Kessel is still a leaf)

no more Staal talk...let's talk leafs.

cujo was 33-35 years old when he was still with the leafs, belfour was 37-38, your point?
- Mapleleafs_91

Belfour was pretty (frank)ing bad at 38, is likely the point

if he could get him for a steal, it would be done.

Nonis told Gillis to suck it several times this year. If he really thought he needed to upgrade goaltending, he'd have done so already.

If he can get him for nothing, I agree he'll make the trade. But he's not trading Bozak for him.

- Big_Lightnin

There saying the price is lowered now, i think if grabo goes the other way say with a prospect like ashton, the deal gets done. I doubt bozak will move though at this point, hes been playing pretty good lately

you can spin it however the (frank) you want. the only team he's ever hammered home anything legitimate from is one of the most stacked teams ever assembled.

i'm not interested in having this debate. it's ridiculous. there is 17 reasons why this luongo in toronto poop is a joke, and needs to go away. what i just listed above is actually kind've irrelevant compared to alot of the other reasons.

tough to say though... he's grown with the added challenges too. Everything Carlyle has done with him is working better than expected. Why push it? why put him in front lines every game, when he's doing so well with minutes he's getting?
- Big_Lightnin

Too many folks want to rush things.. he is perfect where he is now.. and that is second line...

If our goalies why does every analyst and nonis say they are looking at a veteran goalie?
- Yeti1181

For leadership, mentoring, mental preparation... to avoid throwing a promising prospect or two to the wolves.

The names you've described are elite talents. They aren't "any respectable level of pro athlete."
- Leeman4Gilmour

i mean sports wide my friend.

granderson, teixera, and sabathia, see their careers go down the drain when the went to new york? the media is pretty heavy there.. the same argument could be made in 30 different scenarios in football. it is the most watched sport in north america, by an insanely (frank)ing large margin..

the media thing in toronto has become a cop out. id be willing to bet, if the last 10 free agents to turn down toronto were to be asked if they didnt sign a contract because of the media, they'd respond with "really? i didn't sign there because it's been a (frank)ing poopshow there for the last 10 years. i want to play for someone respectable".

sure said a lot after these words...

Malkin is a 1st line center playing 2nd line. Datsyuk is a 1st line center playing 2nd line (or was a lot).

how do J Staal's numbers compare to theirs? Datsyuk's pretty good defensively. nominated or wins the selke every year, still gets 90+pts.

that's how.

J Staal's a very good #2 on a lot of teams, and #1 on a few desparate teams who don't have a real #1 (Leafs are on that list).

but he's not a true #1. He doesn't have the offense.

For a goaltender, 24 years old in his third season qualifies.

but he still hasn't played 100 career NHL games. That's still very inexperienced

Yeah i guess the real analysts and GM dont know anything They are smart enough to know that the load on reimer probably wont last and its very uneasy going in with reimer and scrivens tandem. Id rather have luu than khab from the oilers who they keep linking to come to toronto as well, or who Nonis would be looking at

He sort of is though, isn't he? 12-4-4, based on the talent level of the rest of the team, that's pretty much right in line with what you would want out of a starting goalie.

But there's no denying that even when we were respectable, we still didn't land anybody.

Seriously, I'm wracking my brain trying to remember the last big name FA's that signed here, going all the way back to the early 90's and beyond.
