This is the perfect time to finally see what we have in Reimer. If he falls flat on his face in the playoffs that's fine, we're not winning this year anyway and we can move on from him. If he shows up then we might really have something to work with.
- Jeffmt

(frank)ing exactly. it's a crash course with what we have while it doesn't matter.

we paid Grabs 5.5 so I guess the answer would be yes...

35 games and now Kadri is the NHL scoring king?

Let's forget the conversation..you keep basing a lot off of 35 games of a lock out season with an East division which has about 11 teams wishing they had a goalie.

you win...Staal...YOU SUCK!!!!!! BLAH

- Garnie

See, you're not being reasonable. No one has said he sucks. He's just not a first line centre. He's pretty much clearly shown that he's not capable of it.

35 games into this season, and guess what.... He's doing something that Staal has never managed. Even at his best, he could never come close to a point per game.

I don't think Luongo has any interest in going somewhere to share the duties, at least not in the sense that you're suggesting. That's what he's trying to get away from. If he agrees to a trade it's going to be to a team with a traditional starter/backup situation.
- Jeffmt

Hes obviously going to get more games, and another note, nucks dont play him. Schneider has started the last 5-6 games

Thankfully not as bad as last year...
- DoctorNHL

yea that's a pretty low bar though.......

Seriously, our goalies see more rubber than a dead skunk on the trans canada. The amount of high quality scoring chances they stop on a given night is ridiculous.

I can't believe a fan who has witnessed the atrocities of Toskala and Raycroft would actually not realize how a goalie with a 920 save % compares to a goalie with a 890 to 900 save %

Raycroft and Toskala? 890-900 %'s and were good for 1 to 2 weak goals a game.

All you guys calling for Lupul to be captain.... Do you play sports much? Changing captains is a big deal and it is very disruptive..... Lets rock the boat so all you negative Nancy's can get your prediction right that the Leafs won't make the playoffs and get your god awful predictions right.

Lupul goal is amazing. He is a great leader. However there are no complaints about Dion in Toronto. He has not caved into the pressure of the Toronto media (although he sounds like a caveman in interviews). In fact he has played very good hockey for the most part this year and has stepped it up when you Nancy's doubted the team he most. He has two Key goals in crunch time the last two games and I guarantee you for every bone headed play he makes he makes 5 good plays.

most likely because no one wants him. Do you wonder why that might be?
- Dirte

because half the league has a goalie already and his contract, but were the only team that wants to take it on, so

What makes you think the Leafs want to take on his contract? I think it's quite obvious, at this point, that Luongo would have been given away for nothing if they could, but he hasn't moved.

No I agree with your points... just think the difference in improvement is down to the team play.. they were worse now they are better.. if they could get some better defensive D.. those percentages will improve...

Reimer flat out stole the game in Boston. Only reason they didn't get blown out let alone got the win.

Pretty (frank)ing good against Tampa too.

Shouldn't have played against Buffalo.

- Big_Lightnin

Not saying he is poop, hes decent enough to keep us close. But its annoying to see the leafs always playing catchup when there up already. And have to continue to score more goals

Exactly.

Aubin, Tellqvist, Raycroft, Clemenson, Cujo (the washed up years), Gerber, Macdonald, Toskala, Gustavsson...

We finally develop the best goalie since Potvin and get some stability in goal and we're about to toss it away?

Even if we had a chance at miller for a good price, id go for it. But i see luu would come at a cheaper price
- Mapleleafs_91

here's the problem though, you are only looking at the short term price of the trade.

the contract is an issue. They can't buy him out or send him down anymore to get relief.

I"ll be shocked if he has more than 3 years at the level he's playing now. After that, we've got a $5.3M hit on a backup. no thanks

If they had it their way, most of these people calling for Lupul to be captain would be naming a different captain every season. There doesn't appear to be leadership issues with the Leafs. It's not broke so don't try to fix it.
