Time for hextall to come in and rebuild the system..This team will be mediocre until they restock the farm...
- Philly1980

I wouldn't mind it if Hexy came home. LA did it right. stockpiled picks and prospects then took a run for it at the right time.

Sugar, Starch, Grease, Fat and Alcohol.

93.3 WMMR used to put out a cookbook. They'd get the DJ's and various music acts to submit recipes for it. Dave's recipe was to go to McDonald's and get a couple cheeseburgers.

Thats soo funny. I remember hearing DLR interviewed on WMMR in the early 80's where he made that crack about the 4 food groups. Van Halen at the Spectrum in 1980 was one of the best shows I ever saw. The band was tight, Dave was nuts and the energy was off the charts!

Radio was also relevant back then.

I remember going actually going to a "Louie Louie" parade that 'MMR threw back in the day. Good times.

Here's a thought
What would you all think about replacing Homer with Dave Poulin as GM, he is currently in Toronto's front office, and then bringing in Dallas Eakins as the next coach.

Even if we have great players in the NHL (Couts Schenn) once someone gets njured were screwed...no one from the farm can come up and play..This is true espescially on defense....Thats the problem the flyers have had all along...Great NHL teams, but if someone gets hurt theres no younger guy that can come in and replace them. Id like to see that change for once.

Not a terrible thought. It's hard to evaluate Holmgren fully, due to Sniders interference, but I think if the coach goes, the GM should go.

Nope, could never hit one of those for whatever reason. Those events were a blast.

I also had the 'MMR album back in the day that had Big Daddy Graham doing "Call in sick" on it. Good times....

I would expect any team at the bottom of the League to have more cap space than the teams at the top. Compare the Flyers cap space to Florida's.
- PLindbergh31

Florida doesn't have the talent that Flyers have. Spending does not automatically translate to success.

Poulin would be in my top five, but my choices would be Jim Nill(Detroit Asst GM), Paul Fenton(Nashville Asst GM) or Rick Dudley(with the Leafs, not sure of title).

The key is, does ownership leave him alone or do we get Snider proclaiming in the newspaper that the GM must acquire this or that.

I wouldn't hate it. Poulin is a smart dude.

Also, it would satisfy Snider's urge to keep every Flyers job "in the family".

Question is, would he want the job?

Boy thats the truth. Just ask the Rangers, I believe they missed the playoffs 7 or 8 years running and had the highest payroll in the league during most of those seasons!

Can't see how he wouldn't. He's spent a lot of years coaching and now in the front office, I have to think running his own team must be his goal.

AS long as snider is above ground the mentality of this organization will stay the same....

Boston was red hot in February.. and has cooled off in March.. Their goalie has also cooled off considerably.. Last night he damn near had a full blown mental breakdown. Meanwhile the Pens team defense has been outstanding... they are the best offense in the league (far and away).. they are statistically the second best 5v5 team (gf/ga) they are second in PP, 9th in g/a, and again by far.. the best 3rd period team in the league. All of that prior to adding Iginla, Morrow, and Murray.

I understand there is a lot of hockey left to be played, but if you look at the two teams and dont see the Pens as the heavy favorite not only out of the east, but out of the entire NHL.... come on.

- jak521

Pittsburgh is the prohibitive favorite, no doubt. But to say it's not close, simply isn't true. When you play the team game that Boston plays, you have a very good chance. The best team wins, not the best collection of players. The Flyers are a perfect example of that. They have a lot more talent then a bunch of teams ahead of them in the standings.
Last year, who would've picked the Kings and Devils in the Finals? Did the Devils have the best roster? It's about who is playing the best, and who gets' hot. As we saw last year, A Goalie can get on a roll, and lift a team.

There are very few NHL teams that can reach into their AHL team and replace a top line player. When Pittsburgh had Crosby out, they had Jordan Staal assume a bigger role.

Outside of Morrow, they gave up jack poop in terms of prospects.
- Jsaquella

You have a good feel for prospects. If the Flyers were in the trade for Iginla mix. And they offered Laughton, Ghostibhere, and a 1st. Would that beat the Pens offer?
