Just the mention of that run refreshes the heartache, every damn time

Whenever I think about that series I tell myself they had no chance to win game 7 in Chicago, it helps me rationalize that goal.
- PLindbergh31

and that very well may have happened...like 6-0 blowout bad...but then i think about all the other absurdities that got them to that point, and the fact that the bruins were down 3-2 to the nucks the following year, and went on not only to come back and win, but became the first road team to shut out the home team in a game 7 of the SCF.

i spent a poopload of money on those game 6 tickets, and i don't even care about that....i wanted that cup so (frank)ing bad. my playoff beard deserved much better. all those celebration pics of it which never happened.

When they came back from 3-0 down against Boston, I thought the stars were aligned. Sometimes destiny triumphs over talent, I thought that was going to be the case. Even though they tied the series 2-2, I knew when the didn't get a split in the first 2 games, they weren't going to be able to beat Chicago 4 out of 5.

It's all part of being a fan. Joy of victory, pain of defeat, and all that. I still can't believe they came up short, though, even if all the facts suggest it was inevitable. I fully believed they would do it. Sigh...

Yeah, so did I. I went to game 4 and I was certain we'd be having a parade...not as certain as I was in 1987, when Craven beat Fuhr to open the scoring in game seven...I need Prozac now

Aside from the buying game six tickets part, these are all my feelings exactly. I still feel the chill from that sad, sad shave

It's not like the flyers lost Bc of Leighton. The hawks def had a slight advantage at 5 on 5 play. It wasn't much but it was there

not yet

some of the whiskey guys I talk to are mad at Glenfiddich for buying up all the small independent distilleries and homogenizing the product

Hawks were better. But Niemi didn't play great in that series. If the Flyers get average tending in that series they have a hell of a chance. Meh water under the bridge now.

i can see that 5 on 3 goal now. it's burned into my brain. i thought we were winning the cup right then and there - and you know,it's the only game of the series they opened the scoring. they were down at least 2-0 in all three of their wins. i also think of the half dozen opportunities in that first period to pad the lead, which never came to fruition. one in particular got through fuhr's pads and was lying inches from the goal line before being swept away by an oiler. another with ilkka right in the slot, wide open and hitting him square in the pads.....jesus cripes.....i can't take it anymore.

Its pretty good for an Irish bourbon... I prefer Knob or Makers to it though... American Honey is another that I tend to drink too much of.

I keep my love of Bourbon where it should be... in the States

i believed anything was possible after getting through the bruins. the way they dispatched of montreal and the way the leighton was playing until the start of the series, even when they were down 2-0 i thought they would come back and win. jeff carter will haunt me forever.

I want everyone to go home, look in the mirror, and say to yourself "I had a good day today because the flyers still have their 2nd round pick"
