I just don't get it... Pittsburgh of all teams feels the need to make big acquisitions/changes and us Buffalo fans will be stuck with this same goddamn core for another 10 years.

The playoffs are so different in this sport from the regular season that any odds on favorite going in always seems to fall short. Of course they could win but it's always been defense that's caused them grief over the past few years, not offense. I doubt Doug Murray changes that. Still, I'm just spinning my wheels here
- AlexF

It's true that no team is a favourite over the rest of the field, but no knowledgeable hockey fan can say for certain that they will not when the cup. If I had to bet my life savings on one team, it would be the Penguins hands down.

bigger issue to me, as a b's fan...does this completely turn them off for guys like glencross who could be useful

They are lucky Flyers are out. Flyers are still the best team IMO
- VANTEL

How are they the best? They are looking at drafting Barkov.

On paper the Pens look great but god knows poop happens in the playoffs.

You need to be good on paper and be lucky to make it far. The Pens do have some question marks when it comes to the health of Crosby, Malkin, Letang. They're all a solid playoff check away from missing serious time.

Kunitz/Crosby/Iginla
Bennett/Malkin/Neal
Morrow/Sutter/Dupuis
Cooke/Adams/Kennedy

Letang/Despres
Martin/Orpik
Murray/Niskanen

Black aces will have Mark Eaton and Dustin Jeffrey, &c.

Our third line is now our fourth line. I really don't know how this team is under the cap.

Anyone else think that two 2nd rounders (for Douglas Murray) or Joe Morrow (for Morrow) were both more of payment than what CGY got for Iginla?
- AlexF

Well certainly J. Morrow and Khoklachev were both higher drafted and projected prospects than these two.

I think the best thing is to look at it through the Khoklachev / Pitt 1st lens.

Then again you can also argue Feaster could have gotten better offers than either of them by waiting a bit more.

Not a thrilling return, but I still think the real mistake was waiting at least a year too long to do it, and not necessarily the bidding war THIS year. We'll see.

Both of them will probably be back by the playoffs. Pfft those old guys don't have to do as much as they did with their old teams now. Guys like Iggy and Morrow are warriors, I'd definitely want those guys on my side come playoff time when things get really intense.

I think Glencross is a guy worth keeping for the Flames. Pretty useful and on a good contract, hard to replace with a late 1st (which I think he could get.)

Feaster played this like a genius, he knows pens wont resign iginla. But Chiarelli was insisting on locking up iggy to use him as more then a rental.
Now flames (a team who was already out) get a 1st in a deep draft, and will resign their captain (fresh off a cup win)

Now Feaster is going to turn around and trade that package he just got for Mike Ribeiro, just so he can complete the cycle.
- ThePresident

I lol'd.
If this happens, and Cammi stays, I will legitimately stop watching hockey until they are eliminated.

Jbo will get more than Iggy. He is not a rental, and would look good in a Maple Leaf

Pft....... was it really worth the price though?

I mean what are you going to do without Kenneth Agostino and Ben Hanowski now? I mean those type of players only come along every draft year between the 3rd and 6th rounds.......

yeah, but when the hitting and intensity picks up in the playoffs as it always does, i think he would be great for boston or any team really.
