it was actually iggy himself who trolled the Bruins - he's the reason the deal was with Pittsburgh, not Feaster
man, the next Pittsburgh-Boston game won't be fun for Iggy |

I just like picking on Feaster cause it's fun and really....

he is an easy target, no doubt, and a lot of the time he does deserve it
you know what, i was going back and forth but I think I'm comfortable saying, this was a bad deal. can't get past the fact that neither of the prospects seem to have been highly ranked at all in Pittsburgh's system - Pens beat reporters said neither were even internally ranked in the top 10 prospects, and that was BEFORE the trade. I know that the limited market was a factor, and that Iggy was the reason it was Pittsburgh but the discrepancy between Khoklachev and these two seems pretty wide... |

a player exercising NTC rights doesn't necessarily mean that a team is going to get completely screwed for trade value - hell, look at Dallas and Morrow, same situation, same teams even
iggy is a guy who was going to get an nmc from any team, and he is definitely a guy who deserved to pick his team (unlike, say, Sarich and Babchuk - I think Feaster is the only guy in the league who would have given those guys NMCs)
like i say, i agree that the limited amount of teams meant limited options but the Pittsburgh offer still seems a bit baffling to me. i mean, it was reported basically that Feaster wanted a 1st + for Iggy and the + from pittsburgh's end seems like barely anything at all right now. and it was always going to be a late 1st anyway so the + was even more crucial
one moment that sticks with me: one LA-based reporter was talking with Ron Hextall (LA's assistant GM who will probably have his own team one day) and Hextall said if he was Calgary GM he would have done way better. this was when it was still believed Boston had gotten Iggy. Also worth noting that Hextall himself was involved with talks - LA for whatever reason backed out early. it just strikes me as a very unusual thing for a working GM to say on the record. |

I think Feaster will come out with a decent trade for Jay BO, with Iginla he had only one team that he wanted to go to, multiple teams wanting Jay will increase the return... I don't think Jay will be choosing just one team |

Retaining all these guys with 10mil wont happen.
Iginla - 7 Million
Morrow - 4.1 Million
Murray - 2.5 million
Kennedy - 2 million
Cooke - 1.8 million
Dupuis - 1.5 Million
Then they have to re-sign Malkin, Letang, Orpik and Kunitz the year after |

I love everyone saying the pens win the cup.
Might as well stop playing.
They still have a questionable d and goaltending. |

Questionable D i'll give you that, but to say Fleury and Vokoun are? If thats the case then every Nhl team has questionable goaltending. |

it was a fair assessment, fleury and price are both very streaky goalies... if they are hot when they hit the playoffs, teams better watch out, if not well.... it could get ugly for both of our teams |

I believe Kennedy is as good as gone next year, Morrow won't resign, and Iginla will take a considerable paycut. Orpik might not be back the following year along with some other defensive guys due to alot of guys NHL ready in the AHL. |
