i really do think Boston was 100% convinced they had the deal done, and it was Feaster holding his cards close, simply because it's so rare for so many media members to be so completely wrong. i mean, you had all of TSN's top reporters basically convinced it was done.

although Bob McKenzie kept saying that the deal was "not done" but he wasn't sure whether that meant it was just a technicality or whether negotiation was still ongoing. and then he was the first to break it was Pittsburgh. still the king

Because the answer couldn't possibly be that Feaster is a bad GM/ Iginla had to sign off on the final deal because that's how NTCs work.

difference being boston offered a conditional pick based on iginla resigning, pittsburgh's was unconditional....

According to McKenzie the Flames preferred deal was with Boston but Iginla made the final choice, as was, of course, his right to do so. So that's something for the Feaster apologists I guess (although that unconditional pick crap was nothing to write home about either.)

remember, as I've said, just because a player makes a list of teams that might be acceptable doesn't mean it's legally binding.
