Im sure they'll improve without the heart and soul of their franchise around.
- sanfordnson

well they don't have the flux capacitor sadly...Iggy is in the twilight of his career. They are losing him for 17 games. He could have walked for nothing

st. louis stamkos conacher
malone lecavalier purcell
versteeg weiss huberdeau
bergenheim thompson fleischmann

hedman campbell
carle gudbranson
salo jovanovski

markstrom

garon

that team would make the playoffs.... at minimum be winning the southeast.

1st round pick not being conditional makes it a better deal for me
- flashfire

Is it too late to make it conditional? The condition being that Pittsburgh has to do all the scouting and actually make the selection for the Flames.

The timing is more questionable. Should have been done 2 years ago. The return would have been such that the Flames wouldnt have missed a beat.
- sanfordnson

no doubt

though I blame that on ownership, not Feaster; I think he wanted to make this trade far earlier but couldn't convince Murray.

For sure. IMO the Bruins would be just as scary if they can add another piece like a top 6 forward or a top 4 d-man(whichever is the greater need). Soderberg also sounds like a legit player and should provide some nice depth for the B's.
- Nucker101

soderberg the (frank)ing cyclops has been playing this game of i'm coming, not coming..for years..nobody in boston is holding their breath on him
if they can't get someone like st. louis i am fine with them adding a depth forward and dman..with leadership and who has been through it before
iginla would have helped as much in the leadership dept than he would on the ice, probably more..they have missed that veteran presence since dr recci retired

Flames can look at Fucale, Jacob DLR, Theodore, Klimchuk, Lazar, Hartman, Zykov and Burakowsky (might go good with all the other 'owskis') with that late 1st. Still a lot of good players available at that point.

Shakey goal tending , old legs , and injuries will let them win one round only .
- VANTEL

We'll see. I won't be cheering for them to win, that's for sure. Especially if they're playing a Canadian team.

what does that have to do with prospects drafted in the last two years other than the fact we will get another good prospect this year. Vancouver will be in this situation soon, team is obviously getting worse

Agreed, but it sends a message clear as day. Make no mistake Iggy wanted this trade for another shot at a Cup, and if he doesn't get one it's unlikely he goes back to Calgary and even if he did why would they if they're going into rebuild? I think Iggy's game against Chicago was his last as a Flame.

i still think bartschi will be a good player but he's just a bit farther from being ready than we thought. also very optimistic about gaudreau

on the whole though, they're still pretty average at best, one key problem is that all their best prospects are still several years away, which is why we need a lottery pick pretty badly

CLEARLY.
And certainly, Kip would have also waived then too.
Problem- that was when Feaster inherited the reins, and the poop in the face DSutt left behind.
Literally, was not an option that yr. Last yr- yes, though they had a shot.
I am proud of him though- hate the trade, but acted with autonomy for ONCE

Um no . We will bring in a player or two a year. Teams realistically should not have to bring in more than one new prospect a year.

i think they probably could have done it last year and gotten more. definitely should have traded Kipper the day his NTC expired

hell, I remember Feaster making an empty threat to blow up the team before last year's deadline; I think he got yelled at by King after that stunt
