I'm not going to sit here and rant about Feaster...because CLEARLY this deal was about Jarome going to where he wanted to go. Bottom line, Iggy wanted to go to Pitt, and the Flames granted him his wish (as they should). Classy move by the Flames, go get your cup Iggy! - The-O-G
he might feel differently when chara plays against him |

yet he has a cup ring. made unpopular trades for the lightning than brought in fedotenko who scored both goals in game 7 for us. - boltsfan48
dudley built 95% of that team, and you're forgetting that he was absolute poop as a GM for Tampa after the Cup win |

i think if he wanted to do that he would have put more teams on the list - S Kaspar Rollins
Interesting point. But it's clear he wanted a chance at a cup. No matter who CGY traded with, Iginla wouldn't have that change in cow town. |

As I recall Sundin had a pretty good rumored return though (included Grabovski + from Montreal, for instance) - S Kaspar Rollins
The point is the Leafs got nothing for Sundin...Flames got a first round pick and two guys that are over a point per game in the NCAA and there is a decent chance he comes back in a couple months |

This is what I think most people are missing. He let Iggy choose. |

my point is, if he had a secret deal to come back a la Tkachuk, it would have made sense to try and maximize the potential return for his club (eg Tkachuk was traded to Atlanta and got 3 1sts I think, then came back) |

yes, it takes so much intelligence to bottom out and take the consensus #1 overall pick
besides the fact that feaster's poopty management was the only reason they were in that position |

Decent counterpoint, especially considering Kaberle also had an NTC (and IIRC, was only accepting trades to Eastern teams) and was worth virtually nothing a half-season later. - S Kaspar Rollins
Mhm! Although Feaster was in a position of assembling three different trade offers and having Iginla choose where he was going to go - and choosing what assets would come back for him.
Sundin was promised for years that Toronto would build a contender around him but we only made the ECF once with him. I understand why he left for nothing and went to a legit cup contender in Vancouver.
At least you guys got something for Iggy, and didn't spoil/ruin the relationship between the fans and him. |

Agreed. Hopefully classy move respecting Kipper's wishes now. Cause make no bones about it, Iggy just made Calgary's return worse.
Either way- lovely future to behold. Only 6 pts out of the promised land. Flames will win yet again. The glut of soft Euro wingers and old NA wingers will be impactful. |
