if this draft is that solid, the flyers should be open to trading coburn for a 1st rndr+.
coby will rebound, but i think he looks like a guy who's a little too comfortable here. I'd want a top 4 prospect in addition to the pick...given what dreck is fetching these days, it's doable.

a yr ago, when i proposed trading a guy like schenn for him, about half the folks here were opposed... some vehemently. we have to project a guy who may be having a down yr if he is young enuf and has a certain pedigree. that's our best chance to snag a top pair guy, imo.

a guy like Tyler myers sucks right now, but...

The trouble with TyMy is his massive contract. If he returns to the form he showed as a rookie, great. If not, you have a $5.7mm hit as a third pair defenseman

Teams seem to know that if you put enough pressure on this team they crack.

One of the things that really concerned me was seeing the teams's record vs the rags and devils. It is awful.

I think that over the summer there needs to be some real changes to the team. From the total organization. What type of team do they want to be and own it, don't change every year. Build a identity. There are some really solid players on this team hat seem to not know who they are or how to play the game. The D is a mess, it needs to be completely overhauled. But bigger then the players is the identity of this team and coach to it. Have answers.

I think you hit the key point. They don't know who they are, and how to play. that points in one direction. It's like a virus or a disease that has infected the entire team. The ability is there. But they play as individuals. They are fragile, and they don't know how to get out of this hole. The harder they try, the more frustrated they get. And then when something happens, they get down a goal or two. It all blows up. The players on this team, are not this bad. They lack direction. They've developed so many bad habits that haven't been corrected. Other teams against the Flyers are like a pack of Lions that pick out the wounded and the weak animal in the herd of gazelles to attack. The Rangers have been struggling offensively all year. Did they look like a struggling offensive team last night. It's not the players, it's the team that is the issue. If you know what I mean.

As far as the Defense is concerned. Meszaros injuries complicate the issue. But I think they're fine with Coburn, Schenn, and Grossmann. They need to find a replacement for Timonen for the future. And figure out if Gustafsson is going to be a piece moving forward.

Has he continued to play a strong game?

I respect Timonen big time but he has clearly lost a step. On a good team he'd be 2nd pair guy; on a cup team he'd anchor the 3rd pair, play on the pp and move up to the 2nd pair late in games.

He has lost a step. But he's still a top 4 defenseman on any team in the League.

Anyone that was against trading for Subban was clearly not looking at the talent he brings in a position we needed even then.

I can't believe their is a single Flyers fan that would not want him and if their is then they are blind.

a yr ago, that was a lot of talk about his maturity issues and that was a turn off for some...he also seemed to save some of his most egregious turnovers for gms against us, but you're right, we have to look past that.

Yeah he hasn't been a part of the 2 goals but he's made some hits, skating pretty good, just notice he's not using his size enough to protect the puck when driving the net.
