Family comes first ALWAYS!! It sucks for the flames, but at the end of the day, his responsibility is to his family MUCH MORE than to the flames - sensarmy_11
That is idiotic, he is getting paid $6M this season and does not have a NMC, so he should honor His signed contract.
If this is true, I would put him on waivers immediately, send to the Heat and suspend him when doesn't report |

Colin Dambrauskas: Kiprusoff Says Will Not Report If Traded... - Colin Dambrauskas
Whether or not you feel slighted is irrelevant at the end of the day. What is relevant is that Kipper will be there for this vital period of his child's life. If you think a first rounder is more important than that or that the millions Kipper has made will raise his child for him, well, that's just (frank)ed up |

Disagree. If he can't be away from his child, why is he going on road trips? He's a professional athlete for (frank)s sake.

Kipper will change his mind after this game...being hung out to dry
it could easily be 8-0 right now |

Kipper just playing it safe in case he gets traded to the Isles. Getting out ahead of things early. He's a real planner. |

the one his own team mate tipped in while the hawks player bumped him out of the way. Shots are 30-8 and its only 2-0 |

Come-on, Kipper is a freaking awesome goalie, carried the flames on his back for far more wins than a boston fan could actually count...
This whole thing where the player "won't allow a trade" is bull crap, if he doesn't want to go to a different team then why would I force him out? I would be proud to watch the superstars that made me "ooo" and "awww" player there last years in the same city and retire.
This coming from a Canucks fan who will shed many tears once the Sedins' retire.
In addition, Hope Calgary the best on their rebuild in that it will be swift and somewhat successful reboot on the roster. |

who cares what he's getting paid, or whether he has a NMC. at the end of the day, he decided that his family is more important to HIM then the 2nd rd pick the flames would get for him.
if you honestly think that job comes before family, then i feel sorry for your family. he has a new born baby at home, and doesn't want to uproot his family for a year, only to have to likely move them again in a years time.
i get that you think it sucks as a flames fan (although i maintain that the return for him would have been minimal, if they could even move him) but if you can't understand his reasons, then you need to reevaluate your priorities in life. |

there's a BIG difference between leaving for a week, and uprooting your family, especially with a newborn baby. |

I still don't understand why people are mad about this.
the ONLY team that would want him would be one who is a contender RIGHT NOW, and is ONLY missing a goalie, and has the cap space to bring him in.
can anyone name a team in that situation? i sure as hell can't.
look at the teams who need goalies right now. they're all atleast 2-3 years away from being legit threats, they're all young, why would any of them want a 36 year old goalie, with a massive cap hit, who's almost surely done next year?
all the teams who are ready to compete this year or next year are all set in goal.
anaheim, boston, pitt, chicago, LA, montreal, rangers, vancouver, ottawa......i'd even put the leafs in there, cuz at this point in his career, i really don't think kipper is much better than reimer, if he even is better. |

Family is a huge part of life, but come on...you're a professional hockey player, with a contract that you agreed to, with terms you're bound to honor. It's not like THOUSANDS of families don't relocate for jobs every freakin' year.
Kiprusoff is being selfish, plain and simple. He can bring his family wherever he goes. It's not a big deal. He's just feeling 'entitled' to special treatment. And he's going to throw a temper tantrum if he doesn't get it.
Flames fans have a right to be pissed! |

Good read and you are right on. Kipper has the right not to report and the team has the right not to pay him. Problem is by announcing he would not report makes him untradeable right now and the Flames have to pay him. |

Gotcha...so taking his kid to say, Toronto for one year of his infant life will traumatize him. Interesting. |

Your wrong plain and simple..
A family can relocate to any place he goes..He signed a contract and should be man enough to fulfill it..Now because he refuses to go the team loses out on good assests to move forward with..

i think the cap hit would lower his value a little, but there would still be offers. i know lots of sens fans, myself included, would love to see him in ottawa. many of us feel that he could thrive playing in macleans system, especially without the pressure of having to be "the guy". obviously what fans want, and what management want, aren't exactly the same, but most people are comfortable with a deal of bishop and a good pick or prospect....and sens take all the cap hit |

what good assets? honestly, someone please tell me which team would have traded for him? i can't think of a single team who would want/need him, when you take contract, term, age, etc, into consideration. |
