Ya, it really sucks being small and yet making the playoffs every year. Would much rather be a tougher team and finish at the bottom of the league every year.

Whether you would like Marty or not, backup goaltender Lu and his albatross contract does not have much value. For some reason Gillis thinks Lu is the most tradeable asset in the NHL. Well his contract pretty much kills that idea as evidenced by the fact he is still the Nucks backup goaltender. So again, good luck getting the "value" that Gillis and obviously other Vancouver fans think they are going to get.
As for Yzerman being cheap

Any real fan of the lightning would realize this team desperately needs top tier goaltending.. they have incredible offensive abilities.. but the defensive system and goaltending leaves a BIG hole |

Do any of you read or do you just post what you think? Where did I say Lu was a bad goaltender...when you find it let me know. Until then, what I said was Gillis will not get what he thinks is "fair value" for Lu b/c of his albatross contract. Sorry to all Nucks fans but that is the truth. Gillis has ZERO LEVERAGE in any deal for Lu b/c he made Cory his "starter" thus relegating Lu to be a very highly paid backup with a very long term deal.
Lu will not go to the Bolts in a deal involving St Louis (which is how this back and forth started) much less for any other top value player in return. Again...it goes back to leverage and the repercussions of picking up Lu's long term contract. Got it now? |
