At the risk of groans, 93.7 reporting the pens still very in on iginla, per dreiger. what the hell would they give up? kennedy, englynd, and a first? or something like that? I remember when the pens gave up their 1-3 picks in the hossa year... first pick of the pens next year... nathan moon! that being said, the only team in the league deep enough to do this is the pens... you don;t need all your 1st and 2nd rounders to pan out to top-6 players when you have malkin and crosby. of course, shero could still be "in" on it just to drive up the price.

Yea who knows whats going on im not worried about it anymore whatever happens happens.

yeah... i'm more than comfortable with the team now... iginla would be like getting dessert after a really big meal. good if you can eat it, but you worry if the newspaper will have enough good articles to entertain you the next day

Just by Shero showing interest he drives the price up for others.

Because he has shown in the past he will make a splash others have to respect it.

Pens look a little unenergized. I do like Morrows grit though. I'd like to see him get a dirty goal in front of the net. Don't know why glass would be in and Vitale is scratched

Pens are still in on Iginla because they can afford to give up a first and a prospect, even after the previous trades

All that Montreal toughness

Too bad Kennedy took care of that already. Vitale could have been very useful.

my guess is thats whats going on... I don't think the pens would mortgage their future moving pieces for iginla, but they take away some comfort zone if a major injury happens, or something like that that takes out a major player for the long term.

I don't see it as mortgaging their future. They wouldn't by trading one of our d prospects and a 1st. If they trade for Iginla, awessome. If they don't, it's all good. It's all about the cup, the biggest prize

Two top d prospects, a first rounder, and most likely two second round picks for three rentals? No thanks.

I don't see them trading pouliot after taking him 8th overall a few months ago they seem really high on him picking him ahead of Matta who going into the draft was views as a top 10 talent that somehow fell back to the pens

they could afford the price... but if crosby gets hurt, malkin leaves for another team or russia DOUBT IT letang leaves, etc. that loss of depth could hurt us... then again, the stars seem aligned for a deep run, especially in the east. I certainly wouldn't cry into my milk if iginla came on

Can't wait to see that happening, as much as I like Engelland's character...but he ain't going anywhere this year apparently.

curious though, if they led to a cup is the price to high? whats the cap on asset loss for a championship? sure as hell hurts if they loose though... tough call

I don't see them trading any of them... just throwing it out there... actually, and I hate to say it, I would see Despres go before maatta ,harrington and pouliot. tough to see la,chi,or bos beat a deal made up of despres and a first

Crosby and Malkin are locks on this team and you get that feeling, I know
Letang is another story but we'll find a way to sign or trade him for a good return.
Best case scenario: a CUP!, worst: this one you mentioned above

The best teams only win 25% of the time. Too much random luck involved, nothing is a sure thing.

So if your Shero and are negotiating simply to raise the price, what do you offer? A 1st, Kennedy, Dumoulin?

You just do interviews that hint at having interest and not being done making moves like he did this afternoon. You also keep sending scouts to Calgary games

up front, I'm with you in that this is a tactic to raise the price. would you be terribly upset if the pens moved decent assets for iginla? or would you buckle up and go along for the ride!
