So if we sum this up coming full circle it's Staal/Michalek/Morrow/and Some Draft picks for Iginla/Morrow/Murray/Sutter/and draft picks that have and have not been made.
Because without the Z and Staal trades, none of this happens. |

The Iginla trade is exciting, but I'm still worried about this team's ability to score goals.

He is one of the most, if not THE most, respected guy in the NHL right now. - cap1681
There is no doubt there....although I'm sure he is not highly thought of in Boston at the moment.
Edit. MAF is on the ice for the morning skate. The WB/S guys may have jumped the gun on Zatkoff coming up |

I had the same comments throughout. The tone was he wasn't a need really based on what Calgary was looking for. If you can't figure it out and couldn't sense what I was saying, then ...
Yes, it can be our dream now. A first and two secondary prospects, I can live with. A first, Pouliot and Blueger, I couldn't have. - Oneonta Penguin
I'm not going to go back through our debates to dispute that, lets get the cup! |

Iginla was been loyal to the Calgary organization for quite some time. If there is one guy you're going to do this for to give him the best opportunity to get his name on Lord Stanley, it's Jarome Iginla.
Feaster knows Calgary has no chance, and he also knows that Iginla will be back in a Flames sweater next season. - Killian
I disagree...I think the organization (and Jarome) need to move on...I could see him returning for a year when he's 40 or something, but most likely I see him signing a 1 day contract and retiring a Flame when he is ready to retire. |

Who wouldn't want him though he scores he gets to the net fights is a leader and a class act he's the kind of player anybody would want and on top of that they didn't give up major prospects - Genev21
Hossa was arguably the best 2 way player in the game and in his prime at the time of the trade. |

For as long as he wants. - canadianpenfan
The real beauty in what Shero did was making the Morrow deal first. Then he says, "we're comfortable with where we're at", but sure we'll talk about Iggy, however this is all we can pay. He already knew Feasters hands were somewhat tied by limited choices.
Wouldn't want to play poker with Ray. |

Absolutely....I really hope he fits in the lineup....I also hope he re-signs there this year and establishes some more chemistry with Crosby. I want to see him in Sochi next year! |

I asked this earlier bonehead ! Could he have blocked the deal to Boston, or had he already approved them as one of his potential landing spots ? - MadCap2008
He submitted a list of 4 teams, Pens, Bruins, Hawks, Kings.
Calgary received offers from the Pens, Bruins and 1 of the Hawks/Kings.
Feaster then met with Iginla and they went over the offers, Feaster asked Iginla where he wanted to go and he said Pittsburgh. So Feaster took their offer. I heard it from the horses mouth (literally). |

Either way he is a legend. I'm happy to have him on our team but I feel for the fans of Calgary in this situation. Almost every single one of you has been classy. That means a lot. I totally get the impact he's had in Calgary and Canada in general. It'll be a great day in hockey history when he goes back there, no matter what. That's his undisputed home. |

What number is he going to wear?! We retired #12, didn't we? Richard Park, possibly the greatest Penguin of all time. |

Don't feel sorry for us dude! Most of us are happy to see the change, it needs to happen!
Sucks to lose iggy (my childhood idol), but really this the best case scenario. I will cry when he hoists the cup...and I hope Crosby passes it to him first |

Resentment towards Iggy? He is an absolute GOD here in Calgary. Because you do not live here you won't fully understand the impact he has had in this city, both on and off the ice. His relationship with his fans is much more than what he does on the ice. - The-O-G
I root for teams from Washington DC - players come and go. My preference is that when a player departs the team for which I root, beloved or not, that my team gets the best return possible. |

If Jagr in his prime can be traded for guys named Beach, Sivik an Lupaschuk can happen... So can this deal. |

You're missing the point. Iginla would have went to any of the 4 teams. He ended up in Pittsburgh because Feaster took a less attractive deal to send him where he wanted to go most.

I don't want to count any chickens before they hatch but, I would be completely okay with him actually letting him not only take it first, but I'd go as far as him accepting it. I doubt that'd happen just because of tradition but I'd cry like a baby if it did. |
