im going to hurt u all...

iggy choose pitt to win cup AND TO PLAY WITH SID.. your not going to put him on a line with jeffrey and neal and if geno is healthy geno and neal...

DB puts him with sid... either kuni drops to 2nd line or dupes to 3rd... plain and simple...

- nh4442

THIS! He's playing with Sid. No question.

Yes it's a bad deal, but Iggy completely tied Feasters hands. It sounds like there were two deals on the table and Iggy chose Pittsburgh. Feaster deserves lot's of blame for other things, but Iginla basically orchestrated this deal.
- madmike71

i agree with one tweet that said feaster traded iggy 2 years too late.. he could have traded him with 2 years left on contract let him win cup and then retire a flame.. now that might still happen but i think shero can resign iggy and maybe morrow for cheap and have a chance at two more cups... after this year

I understand he was given four teams to work with. Feaster only got three offers, so one of those teams wasn't interested - probably LA based on their cap and what they have to resign in the offseason (quite a few RFAs). I wonder if one of those teams that offered was outside the four.

According to that, LA made an offer but was never really in it, and CHI never made an offer. It was Pitt or Boston.

Feaster shouldn't have made the deal then - I know everyone loves Iginla, but Feaster's responsibility is to the Flames organization and their fans - all they get out of this is the possibility that their favorite player gets a Cup elsewhere. Two non-prospects and what will essentially be a 2nd round pick is simply unacceptable return for this asset.

Maybe not actually. Other teams have needs that havent been met. This could mean that Shero in a sense just drove up the market for other teams who now may need to overpay or have to trade for someone who has time left on their deal which could compromise their cap come next season. The deadline could be dead or it could be down right chaos and fun.

The pick is not conditiontal. It will be a 1st round pick. The players are players that Feaster said his scouts are very high on. They have seen a lot of them since the lockout. Both will probably be signed in a few weeks. Maybe he shouldn't have made it but it's done. Iginla specifically approved it.

Feaster's and Calgary's mistake was not trading him two years ago. They could have gotten a HUGE return. Agostino and Hankowski might not have been within Pittsburgh's top 10, but they will be within Calgary's. That farm system is terrible.

I think you have to sit back and see what unfolds though. Say, Pittsburgh wins the Cup and Iggy high tails it back to Calgary in the off season ... then ... the deal was pretty darn good. To me, this return reeks that Iggy will only be here for the stretch run and nothing after. If he was resigning, a bigger piece would have to be included.

I agree. Iginla is on his horse back to Calgary after the season ends.

I didn't suggest it was conditional, I'm suggesting that it's likely to be the last pick of the 1st round (which to me basically makes it a 2nd rounder).

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Also, a 1st rounder is a 1st rounder is a 1st rounder. You don't usually get paid 2nd round money when you get drafted in the 1st.

But I get what you mean.

We are talking about the same GM who took Jankowski with the 21st pick in last year's draft. The kid was supposed to be a late second round pick. Jankowski was totally an off the board pick - more like when LA went with Thomas Hickey a few years back. I wouldn't be confident in Feaster as Pittsburgh's GM.

Who cares I'm a Pens fan. I give no (frank)s about Calgary. If this trade was made for the Caps would you? Yes it was trash but to the victor's go the spoils. Lets Go Pens

The Best tweet I've read so far:

The only other available captains Ray Shero hasn't traded 4 yet are Captain America, Captain Hook, and my all time favorite, Captain Crunch.

I think I would be more floored to see Iginla not with Crosby than the trade itself.

SHEROASTED. Verb. Meaning: To be outfoxed by Pens GM Ray Shero: "Oh, you think you're getting Iginla, Peter Chiarelli? BOOM! Sheroasted."
