I just pictured him on the 3rd line from the start. Bennett has played well in that spot. I'm willing to give anything a chance though. We have that luxury with a bazillion point lead in the division.

I'm sure we'll get a chance to see Morrow with Geno and Neal, but if Jeffery is the center, I'd rather see Bennett on that line.

I think Bennett has done a lot of good things. Got skill, decent skater and has been surprisingly solid defensively......even throws some good checks.

Morrow also gives opponents one more established scoring threat to be concerned about. Bennett has played REALLY well and will be such a great player for us for years, but in 2013 Morrow will be better at freeing up ice for Malkin and Neal.

Thats how i feel...and i think bennett will really help create more offense for the third line THIS year. Next season bennett with sid.

Hopefully Flower is ok. Didn't look good last night. We can't seem to shake the concussion bug

so... if, and i mean if, MAF is out for a decent length of time, do we see a vet backup brought in for vokoun? a relatively cheap on maybe? and who would it be... ideas... roloson, johnson, conklin or maybe a trade for a back-up... thoughts?

I doubt it. Zatkoff is probably the guy behind Vokoun. He's been pretty good for WBS. If not Zatkoff, then Thiessen is the guy, but I definitely prefer Zatkoff.

I just envision bennett-malkin-neal line not working in the playoffs..someone needs to drive the net.
- SayWhat...NoWay

Morrow showed good things last night. He doesn't has to be the fastest guy, just win puck battles in the boards and be physical in front of the net. He'll be good, just like Malone was playing with Geno.

I agree. He did a good job in the corners and he didn't hurt his popularity a bit by mixing it up and trading checks with Subban either.

Tanger back on IR, Despres back up, and Bortuzzo sent to WBS for conditioning. What exactly do they mean by conditioning, or why doesn't he have to go through waivers?

It's because of his contract type. He has a two way contract

nhl players can be sent down the the AHL for a conditionind stint for a max. amount of games ...I think 2 weeks max. Perfect for situations like this. Great when coming off an injury or when someone has been a healthy scratch for a long time. a few years ago we had Orpik and Scuderi come down here to WBS as well as Ryan Whitney and Fleury.

Ohh, for some reason I thought he had a 1-way.

Anyways, Depending what toe it is, a broken toe isn't a big injury unless its his big toe. Letang should only miss a week or 2. Maybe this will give him a chance to rest that lower body injury that's been nagging him for the past couple weeks.

I know Penguin fans have been conditioned to hate PK Subban, but my goodness did it seem like he was on the ice every shift last night. I get the dislike, but the guy can be an impact player.

Anybody else see the timing of the Morrow trade as window to see if the Shero should still go after Iginla. Almost like bringing Morrow in a week before the deadline is an audition. If he fits well then no more impactful deals, but if after a 3 game look not so much of a fit-- then go after Iginla--- Just wondering out loud

Also loved Cooke's response last night towards Gionta--

It has nothing to do with the type of contract a player has.

Conditioning Assignments

A player who has been on IR or otherwise incapicated (and the team must be able to demonstrate cause) can agree to be assigned to an affiliate for a conditioning stint that cannot last longer than 14 days. At the end of the 14 days, the player must either return to the NHL roster or be placed on waivers to remain with the affiliate.

I'm talking maybe fleury doesn't start in the playoffs... after all the moves to get more veteran help, I would be suprised if shero went with zatkoff as his backup... this is only if fleury is longer term.

It felt like suban played the entire game. I hate the kid but there is no doubt he's a player. I liked cookes response up until the penalty.

It's a conditioning stint only as said previously. 14 days max. He doesn't have to go through waivers for that.
