#Bruins fan summary of this morning: woke up thinking it was Christmas, but instead it's still March and found out my daughter is pregnant.

I hate to say this but I think you are wrong on this one dude! Iggy listed who he would CONSIDER, but at the end of the day, he's the one that signs off ANY deal.
He was presented 3 offers, and said "I want to go to Pittsburgh"
End of story. - The-O-G
For Feaster's sake (not that I care about Feaster, but you know what I mean), I hope you are right. The high of Iginla possibly playing for a Cup elsewhere will wear off quickly and you'll realize your standing in 3 feet of dog poop at home. |

But they wouldn't kick in until after next season right? Cap will go up - dbell646
yeah, they wouldn't kick in until the following season, but the cap is going down next year. i'm not saying it's a guarentee that iginla won't be in a penguins uniform next year, it's just what i think that is all. beau bennett will be ready to play top-2 line hockey next season on Sid or Geno's wing so who knows what Shero's plan is |

yeah but there are two guys by the names of Malkin and Letang, and their contract negotiations come far before anyone else on this current roster. - Killian
Malkin is a net wash basically as he already has an 8.7 cap hit. By the time Letang's new deal kicks in the cap should be headed back up a bit(call it 64 to 67 mil). The cap increase should eat up most of Letang's increased cap hit. Not sure where the concern regarding keeping Letang and Malkin comes from. If they want to be here they will be. |

UGH! Is it game time yet?! Waking up to news of the Iginla trade got me all hockey buzzed (see what I did there?). Drop the puck already! - kill.monsters
Winnipeg picks a bad time to come to Pittsburgh for a game.

I bet Malkin signs for $9 million or less. Letang will be interesting. He could probably make $7 million or more as a UFA, but I have a feeling he signs with us for $5 million - $6 million. Wishful thinking? Probably, but hopefully not. - kill.monsters
yeah 5-6 is wishful thinking lol. Knowing Ray Shero, it will be 6. 58 million/per year |

The Islanders will have an even worse time Saturday

The Pens need Jagr. It would be nice for them to add a former captain to the roster.... |

I hope so. Who wouldn't want Iginla to stay? It's just my believe that this what a 3 month rental to increase our chances to win the Cup. If he stays for longer, it's a bonus. - Killian
pens could affprd to pay him on par with neal at 5 mil a year... they are going to be in ok position next year even with the cap going down.. despres / bennett will be on intro salaries duper is going to depend... does he take less than 3 mil a year? maybe 2-2.5? he may or may not be back... |

I just can't see where Malkin will make more than Crosby, especially after this year. Malkin showed the last time he signed a contract he didn't want to be above Sid. I don't see that changing. Either way, if either one of them can't be signed this summer, Shero has proven that he will get a huge return in a trade |

Iginla could easily be retained next year... anything past that is obviously secondary to Malkin and Letang's status... You may see a Billy G situation... he just might like it in Pitt |

I'll be rooting for the Pens more down the stretch than I have in my life (though this will cease once the playoffs start ) - the Caps blew it by not going full-out tank-mode for a top pick, might as well have them get in the playoffs now even if it means an early exit. The SE is in reach if Winnipeg/Carolina continue to flounder. |

you know that for sure? let's say we do win the cup this year? who's to say that Letang isn't satisfied having won two cups here and decides to go for Suter money? Suter is getting 7.5 million a year, so it wouldn't surprise me if a team would go as far as offering Letang 8 million/per year to play elsewhere. |

Crosby is making $86.4 mil over the next 8 years. That is $10.8 mil per year. The Pens don't have the luxury of having a few $3 mil years at the end to lower the cap hit. |

I love the connection with some of the biggest moves Shero has made. Thanks to Joe Niewendyk, Shero has added significant pieces in Neal and Morrow. Niewendyk was traded from the Flames to the Stars for a young and promising... Jarome Iginla!!!! Poor Joe. |

Re-read the last sentence of my post. If they want to be here then they will. If Letang is looking for 8 mil, then he doesnt want to be here. That is basically the same as a player saying they want to test free agency like Mike Wallace. |
