Meh.......... They are equal in my eyes
- faceto27

One could argue that but a lateral move isn't what the leafs need...They need a true #1 or they might as well just re-sign Bozak..

I don't think so, and I don't think he's a Center.

I do wonder why Major League Baseball, which is always held up as the prime example of inequality in pro sports, doesn't seem to have teams dying off.

It's often said that the small market MLB teams can't compete with the big spenders, and yet, they hang around.

I think that brings us to the main issue at the core of the NHL's problems: hockey is not as popular as baseball. Baseball can sustain these small market teams because there's still a demand to see baseball in the US.

Is hockey popular enough in North America to sustain a 30 team league? Is there any collective bargaining agreement that could ever solve the NHL's problems?

Could you ever institute a system that allows balance between the Maple Leafs, Rangers, and Canadiens on one hand and the Coyotes, Lightning, and Panthers on the other?

If so, I've yet to see it.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Smaller Market teams find good players in free agency for less than the big stars or develope players in there farm system. Look at the Cardinals they lost Pujols they signed Carlos Beltran for 2 years and less money and he had just as much production as Pujols did.

Look at the Giants, Beside Lincecum not many well known names on the roster yet they've won 2 out of the last 3 World Series and they run on a budget of like 120 million dollars.

Look what the Dodgers did they're payroll is like 250 million dollars this year just to try to compete with the Giants.

Hey does anyone know if playoff revenue counts towards the NHL revenue totals they report at the end of the year?

If it does, I do find it funny that the Leafs, Habs, Canucks, Jets and Senators are all sitting in a playoff spot right now...Edmonton only 3 points back... Calgary sucks.

But if you wanted to recoup lost revenue from lockout shortened season, what better way than having all the Canadian teams make the playoffs?

Well thats what i'm saying. But do you resign Bozak at over 4 mil a year? Thats what he wants. At 3 mil per year, I'd resign him. At 4 mil......... i'll pass.

I would hope so also, but if given the choice of Bozak at 4 mil or Jokinen at 3 mil. I choose the latter.
- faceto27

The problem is majority hate and like bozak. They like what bozak brings to the table, but hates him being the first line centerman. If he was a 2nd line centerman or 3rd, and we actually had a 1st line centerman, no one would be complaining. If bozak gets 4M, just trade him away.

Anyone hear what kypreos had to say yesterday? He said KADRI can easily get 5 MILLION, is he on drugs

He played center last year, but his offense dries up at center. Doesn't matter however, nobody wanted his full 3 mil salary (which is odd considering how much everybody is getting overpaid so far)

Just having the Habs and Leafs in the playoffs would be enough especially if they happened to meet in the 1st round or if they both somehow made it to the 2nd round and faced off there.

He plays mainly centre now. He used to play on the wing with Staal.

You'd take the cheaper, yet worse player? Why are you trying to save mlse's money for them and accepting a worse product.

Mlse loves you.

I'd resign Bozak for 2 years at 7 million. Next year he won't be on the 1st line i can see Kadri there. So Bozak will be put in a better situation as the 3rd line center with probably still having decent wingers beside him.

As noted in today's LR, Nazem Kadri has drawn 22 minor penalties or about 19% of the Leaf powerplays.
