1.5 Million salary while cap hit is what 5.8 million so after taxes he only losing out on less than a million. Sure he can afford to retire.

He would also lose the remaining amount of this year, because he would be suspended.

Not saying that he doesn't retire. He just says he won't report. Many times players have threatened the very same thing. Then through the magic of a contract expension they change their mind.

I think we can go a round for sure. All depends is where we slot into the top 8. If we're anywhere between 4th - 6th, there's a good chance we'll play the habs or jets/canes. All teams we can take imo.
- Pen15

I don't even care. I just want them to make it so there is one less thing for the trolls to laugh at that I have no comeback for.

Let some other team be playoff barren for a while; Edmonton perhaps?

He says that he may not report. I never heard anything about him retiring though.
- faceto27

They very briefly mentioned it last night. It wasn't mentioned in a "he's talked about retiring" type way. They simply mentioned that his contract was believed to be structured when it was written so he wouldn't really play the last year, and retire before then.

As far as rumours go, Kipper retiring is not even a rumour at this point. That contract was written years ago.

Kipper's wife just had a baby. He's not uprooting his family or be away from them at this time. He's not going anywhere and has said so publicly. Let's move on.
- As_I_See_It

I can't believe he said he wouldn't report. They should demote him. He gets paid millions of dollars why again?

Anyone give me some info on the game?? I missed it .

Who played well?
Who played poop?
Dion scored, but did he actually play well?
King Joff.. Two goals, what a beaut.

Solid game? or Lucky win?

His dad is a manipulative bastard who pretty much extorted Gilmour and the Frontenacs to trade him to London by threatening to go to the NCAA. Tie has always been heavily involved with Max and is doing everything in his power to get him to be as highly touted as possible. That leads to Max being overrated and possibly creating an entitled attitude just because his dad has pretty much driven him to where he is. But his combination of skill and his tenacity is valuable.
- Two_For_Truth

Tie is doing exactly what every other well-positioned or connected parent does in the same situation.

The real negative impact arrives in the form of a kid, not such much feels they are entitled but rather they think that they are better than they actually are - arrogance.

An invariably its the mothers who are more impactful, the fathers generally seem to have some grounding in reality.

Living in the states, and experiencing this with my kids in high levels of two sports.. this is killing the sports themselves. You end up with highly skilled highly able teams that have absolutely no drive or desire... and they really aren't teams... rather collections of individuals.

This is what makes the real leaders and heart soul players so valuable going forward.

Lol. That's beside the point. You don't screw over the team that so graciously paid you millions to play a sport. They get paid that money because things like trades happen. He should suck it up and do his job.

Although a fight would be more rewarding maybe a hit to the head... would be better... KO him for a year... that dirty midget...

best option is to re-introduce Komisarek for the game against the Habs. SImply tell him this is his one chance at re-establishing himself. Don't expect goals or assists, just hits and lots of the little cross-checks.

I agree. But when you pay them that type of cash, if they don't want to report to a new team, what does a guy do?

If we could get Kripisoff I think we can go deep in the playoffs.

Get him for very little of course

- faceto27

Kipper ain't gonna get this D any where - worst team in the league shoots 42 pucks on net - have fun watching the 1st round and don't take them in your pool, it will be good experience for next year.

Not much talk about Morgan Reilly yet...

although Hockey News had this to say...

Since his Moose Jaw Warriors missed the Western League playoffs, Rielly jumped to the ‘A’ and promptly played three games in three days. The skilled and speedy blueliner notched a goal in his debut and most importantly, fired tons of pucks on net throughout the weekend. Drafted fifth overall by Toronto in 2012.

- DoctorNHL

need to translate into Toronto media speak...

1) he wasn't good enough to go straight to the NHL
2) he's only scored one goal in three games in the AHL
3) he has a lowsy shooting percentage
4) and he wasn't drafted in the top 4 therefore its only matter of time before he's labeled a bust
5) and he wasn't good enough to get his WHL into the playoffs.

yes, yes... its the Toronto Media here.. and the glass is always 1/16 empty

Most of the shots were from the outside. The defense style the leafs play force a team to make shots from perimeter. I wouldn't get too caught up in the shots on goal stat. Its the quality chances a team gets that is the important one.
