The problem there was, I didn't see the coach looking for an answer until the season was do or die.

I'm fine with some player changes and fully agree they need to at least add a good, mobile guy that can move the puck. But at the same time, they're poorly coached. There's no cohesion, no discipline...Hell, the main reason I wanted to make a change awhile ago was so they could get a jump on reassessing their own personnel.

We know changes are coming, and are needed, and I don't think there's any doubt Lavi is gone if (when) the Flyers don't make it into the POs.

They need better scouting to draft goalies and dmen successfully. It's not like every pick the last 20 years have all had positions listed as C, RW, & LW.
- Flyskippy

This. They just don't pick the right players after the 1st round. There's been a bunch of D-men that have been brought about slowly and just never amounted to anything. Kevin Marshall, Mike Ratchuk, Bartulis, etc.

I'm not just talking on the D. Forwards, goalie, D, it all adds up. The overall system might remain the same, but the makeup of the team changes, and what Snider wants them to play like changes.
- feelingkettle

Very true. He did clearly state that he wanted to see a more responsible defensive team at the start of the year, then repeated it. Snider deserves a lot of blame himself. But he's not getting fired.

I'd have zero issue with that. Kid needs to play. Let him play. Laviolette's desperate to keep his job now. He could give a poop about next year or 5 years from now
- Jsaquella

I just think he would benefit more being sent down. Makes sense for the teams future with him and for the kid. He is struggling and needs to get some confidence back. Let him play a ton of minutes down there.

For the minutes Coots is getting, might as well have Harry Z in there. 1 and 10 against the Rangers should get Lava fired. 28th and dropping like a stone.

I'm a Laviolette supporter, but this can't continue. I would fire both at seasons end.

They shouldn't stop at his door, either. There definitely should be some player changes.

IMO they need to do the opposite. Give couts and the young guns the minutes, dump the ufa's for what you can get and go from there. Let them know it's your job and we'll let you work through the down times.

In my opinion the Flyers have at best a low number 2 dman in 44 at this point in his career.

Everyone else is a 4-6 this season.. Maybe Grossman is a 3..

This season has to be chalked up as a failure and the focus on moving as many vets as possible for picks then building around Giroux , Voracek and Simmonds... I move the schenns for the right offer..I move Couturier and read...

The new coach and GM are going to have a lot of work to do. This team needs to be scrapped. There isn't a Dman I want on this team next year besides L. Schenn.

Full fledged train wreck.

I blame the "win now" mentality. There is no patience with youth in this organization. Everyone in the league knows defense takes longer to develop, but they just cant sit on a guy and wait it out. Then they go apesh!t and try to get a groomed defender after the fact, instead of investing in the position for the long haul.

As long as it results in Couturier playing more minutes, I am for it.

Harry Z, Couts, Wellwood should all be up soon after getting what you can in picks for Gagne, Feds... It's about the future, however far that is 1,2...years.

Yup. It's like they start making a quiche and then go, "Oh Seravalli it, I'll have scrambled eggs!"

I guess you could do that. If you do, I would prefer they hire a guy who isn't interim, so the new coach can hold the players accountable. The players have to have it made perfectly clear to them their jobs are on the line.

No doubt. The current Flyers experiment has flopped, and some new ingredients are needed for next season.
