To me Bailey and KO should be able to make good second line players. I'd like to see both with a better coach. I want to see Nino, Strome, Lee, and Nelson make the team next year but that may be pushing things. I think Martin and Casey can work on a third line. The problem like may have been saying is we are running out of room and the Isles so far do not seem to want to make room for these good prospects that are knocking on the door. Maybe we get a nice surprise at the deadline? - ses111
Either A they don't think they are as good as people on here do or B they are'nt ready yet. We SHOULD have plenty of room after the trade deadline and the waiver wire turn over that should occur. We need REAL talent not some kids learning the tools of their trade from the likes of Marty Reasoner. Squeeze the kids in when they are ready and more so when the team is actually ready for them. |

You'd expect that, based on where they were drafted, but 5 years of play and neither guy has demonstrated that they'll be anything more than depth, third-line at best, players on a decent team. I don't care how much skill you have. If you can't put it together and put up results during games, you're useless. Bailey and KO fall into that category. |

It's really hard to argue. Still would be interesting what they could do with a better coach. Having said this Bailey and KO still do not seem like they have worked enough on their game. |

Ovechkin, who had been criticized repeatedly by the media, is not scoring goals again. -Dee Karl oh really? Cause the last 3 games it looks like ovechkin has rediscovered his scoring touch. In the 2 games against Winnipeg he had 3 goals and 2 assists. Including a 2 goal game in the first game against the jets. He also had a goal and an assist against the rags. 4 goals and 3 assists over the last 3 games for him. So that to me shows he IS scoring goals again. Do some research dee. Cause you only make yourself look stupid when posters are calling out your blunders. |

John Tavares is becoming a superstar with the same coach. Matt Moulson went from a minor league player to a perennial 30 goal man with Gordon and Cappy as his coaches. Eventually, the responsibility for not being a contributor has to fall on the players themselves. |

No question. Just blaming the coach is a crutch. People have lousy bosses and still have to get the job done. |

Speaking of Artie, don't be disappointed in his article regarding the Isles lack of activity during the upcoming trade deadline. You had to expect it. There is no need to try to make deals now with so few games remaining and the idea of making the playoffs simply a wish you make on a birthday cake.
The idea of making the playoffs simply a wish you make on a birthday cake?!?!?
WTF?!!?
Aren't they two points out of 8th?!?!?
- Mancalledsting
They arent really 2 pts out of 8th... there are 3 teams ahead of them the 8th place rangers are 2 pts ahead with a game in hand so you have to calculate that as 4 pts
then the 9th place canes are 1pt out of 8th with 2 games in hand thats 5pts they would have to gain
Granted both of these teams can just as easily lose their games in hand.. but they have to be calculated.
I agree we still should make moves reguardless of making it or not.. fix any weak spots with our amassed assets .. if Nelson is ready for next season.. see what Franz can bring back to upgrade the goalie situation with a good young stud... or a package for a top 4 d-men

There is no debate with me at least. Capuano is quite possibly the worst coach I've seen in my life. He's terrible, there are exceptions to every rule but he is the last person I want near my developing players if I'm GM. |

X do you feel the Isles should stand pat or be buyers or sellers? I like the idea of trading Frans for a goalie or in a package for a top 4 d-men. I would be surprised if Nelson was not ready. |

This is true but what exactly are you saying? Are you saying Capuano is not at fault for any of these players short comings? I'm not saying i disagree with you saying some of the blame is of course the players but you can actually see some of his demotions, cutting of ice time, etc, as being reasons for these players not excelling. Is he 100% at fault? No way but he has alot to do with it IMO. If I were GM he'd be the last person in the world I'd want part of my young players development. Tavares would excell anywhere, Moulson was instantly inserted on the first line with Tavares, it's hard to dispute their points, playing, etc but there are exceptional players that will excell anywhere and with anyone as coach. If this team had a better coach even to a marginal level the team itself would be better for it as well as the players on an individual level IMO. |

No question Cptmjl. Jack needs to go regardless but especially since the Isles team will be made up of young prospects. |

Agreed that players have to be held accountable for their mistakes, but maybe Tavares and Moulson could have been that much better with another coach. The thing is, Tavares was a can't miss prospect. Moulson is someone who has natural chemistry with said can't miss prospect. Meanwhile, we have a few players who have seemingly regressed over the last few years (Okposo, Bailey and even Hamonic to a lesser extent). I think ultimately the blame falls on the player, GM and coach. For the player, he has to be driven to get better. For the coach, he needs to see if a player is missing things and make suggestions for that player to correct their issues. For the GM, they have to see if that player is simply not catching on and may need a change of scenery. It looks like a failure on all three levels in regards to Bailey and Okposo |
