When I heard BU filled their coaching spot and it wasn't Sullivan I was dejected
- cranford93

I knew he wasn't getting that job. Why in their right mind would anbody give him a coaching job? Imagine BU on a power play, just cycling and executing the ole dump and chase. Kids would never stay 4 years their. Sullivan would never change either, he'd be on the bench standing with his arms in his coat pockets. Kinda like he does now.

Personally, as you guys heard me say this before, I am really against trading Gaborik. The thought that Boyle will come and save the day is just nonsense (SJ PP is 18th). Yes Gaborik is streaky, no argument there, but the issue is, who is going to replace his scoring? It is not the lack of effort on his part, he is not Semin (nice contract!). I think that the team is better with him than without.
I think we need a coaching change and tweak the team a bit to get the bottom 6 in order. There are just too many moving parts.

Andersson is a good two way player and first year forward for the Wings. Abdelkader has potential to be a solid second liner with some toughness.
- MidnightMarauder

Abdelkader is 26 years old. He may be a decent third liner but I think the word "potential" no longer applies at 26. He is not, imo, top 6 material.

Thing is we think we can get Boyle without trading Gaborik.

I kinda agree.

I think Torts thinks he needs a full season to get his 'system' to work.

Do a Rangers version of the Pens Morrow for Morrow, with a Boyle for Boyle trade!

Keep Gaborik, please? I still have his jersey... I don't want it to be a waste.

My understanding is they are trying to move Gaborik. It might be a completely separate trade from Boyle.

I am kind of with you. I am intrigrued by the idea of adding him this year for the right price (without giving up Gaborik), but then a decision would need to be made this off-season on a big contract -- i.e., you either need to move Boyle or Gaborik, but of whom have some limits to where they can be moved to.

Boyle isn't what he used to be. He can certaintly help, but is he really that much better of a powerplay option that Del Zotto? He only has 14 or 15 points this year, and is a minus player. You're not trading for Paul Coffey if you trade for Dan Boyle.

Are there any rumors out there as to what it would take to get Boyle from SJ? I would rather not move Gaborik is possible.

Boyle makes way too much money for the numbers he has this season. That the Rangers would take a 6.67 million dollar cap hit for him next season should preclude trying to bring him here. Gaborik is the far better player to trade salary for salary. If our esteemed coach would move Gabby back to the right side maybe our goal starved team would score a few more.

Torts history here shows that if he has a h*rd on for a player he puts him in a position to fail. This time its Gaborik's turn.

Yeah,Torts. Good idea. Drop Gabby down to play with Boyle and Miller. That will get the most out him. Play him with a guy who can't score or pass for sh*t (1 goal and 1 assist this year) and a raw rookie with a bad wrist who is still finding his way around the league. Make no mistake, Miller is going to be a good player but he is still learning the pro game. He has but 2 assists in 22 games.

That is 3 assists in a combined 49 games for Boyle and Miller. Chances are slim they get Gaborik the puck in a scoring chance.

Does anyone really think this goal starved team benefits by dropping gaborik down to the third line? Do you think he will get 18 or 20 minutes of ice time there?

Gabby is not a banger. He is not a diving shot blocker. He is not a grinder. He is a right wing finesse goal scorer. Our coach does not seem to think so. If Torts wants to run him out of town at least get equal value for him and not some 36 year old ex Tampa Bay washed up defensemn.

Sorry guys. I am losing faith in our coach.

There times when I almost embarrassed to say that I would fire Torts after the season this club had last year, but despite that, I feel in my gut that it is the right move. I think another coach would get more out of this roster right now, and it concerns me how many players just seem to be losing their offensive game this season. With that said, I think the Rangers will do just enough so nothing happens this seasons on the coaching front.

The Rangers don't need to play river hockey, but when you have a Vezina Trophy winner in net, to whom you pay tons of money, and a good young defensive core, you could open it up a little. With as much offensive talent as the Rangers have, sometimes you wonder whether Torts is using a Ferrari to hall lumber.

I heard that also. But it would only be for a second line quality forward, and a top 4 defenseman. Girardi has been getting worn down since Staal was injured 10 games ago. But, I still feel that under the right coaching system, Gabby would have scored at least 20 to 25 goals in this shortened 48 game season.

Flyers have 4 games at home in 6 days. If I weren't going to be at them, I'd be all for losing losing losing losing to store up additional possibilities of the #1 pick. But I AM going to be at them.

However, if your team cannot beat my team the way my team has been playing? Well, suck isn't a strong enough word for either team, then.

Rangers are actively shopping Gaborik to the 10 teams he has provided to them, Teams don't ask players with NMC to provide them with lists unless they intend to move him. Whether they move him or not, he knows his days are numbered as a Ranger. Unless he pulls some kind of rabbit out of th hat, he'll be traded or bought out at season end.

2 dead men walking tonight.

Barring a deep playoff run (especially unlikely in the Flyers case) both Lavy and Torts will be goners after this year.

Detroit and late bloomers go hand in hand. Maybe I was too impressed by his hat trick, the other night, but he wouldn't be the only player I would like to get in a hypothetical Detroit trade for Gaborik.

While Tortorella has done a lousy job this season, I am not blaming him for why Gaborik sucks this season.

Scored over 100 goals in three seasons with Tortorella as his coach. I think he is not comfortable with his surgically repaired shoulder. He rarely shoots, especially on a breakaway. Gaborik is known for his great release and now all he does is try that pathetic backhand moves that never works.

You can criticize Tortorella for Kreider and their anemic offense, on the whole, but I am not buying the Gaborik angle, at all.
