Kreider came back with some Hartford jam, I believe they call it "smack" in downtown Hartford

Everytime I see that pic of Kreider in the Broadway hat, all I can think of is that evil kid in Children of the Corn.

A season right out of the Polk High playbook.

Bryzgalov has actually been a positive more often than not this season. If the team played any sort of defense, they'd be in a much better position right now. The thing that really sucks is that Briere is hurt, as he was going after this year one way or another. Sucks that he'll be an amnesty buyout as opposed to a trade piece.

The Rangers are in a terrible position, they need to make the playoffs and become lamb for the Pens/Bruins first round slaughter. They can't afford to miss the postseason due to their lack of a first round pick.

I envy the Flyers current position, they seem to be the only team in the East that can give the Penguins a tough time, assuming they make a run and get that eighth spot. Or they miss the postseason and draft a top flight prospect.

Flyers were six minutes away from beating the Penguins, until the refs decided to assist Pittsburgh's winning streak.

Flyers draw out emotion from Pens like no other team. Plus Fleury generally sucks against Philly.

Great job Pete, glad I didn't have to write the review, it wouldn't have been as good, prepare for the caveman recap tomorrow.

Thanks, Vin. Can't wait for yours tomorrow. If the Rangers lose, they should make your blog pay-per-view.

I am not sure why we are really pushing for the playoffs. It is going to be a 1st round exit. Pittsburgh, Boston, Montreal.........pick your poison.

They don't have a first round pick. I would rather they get mopped up in the first round than miss the playoffs entirely. At least I will not lament on losing that first round draft pick, that could have been Seth Jones or Drouin, if they missed the postseason altogether.

The Blue Jackets really picked a good year to have three first round picks. Even if they place outside of the Jones, Drouin and MacKinnon picks, they're are alot of really good players that will be late teens and 20s. Great draft.

Maybe the Rangers can parlay their second and one of their thirds to move up 10 or spots into the late first round.

Knowing the Rangers, they'll waste that first round pick on a guy that has a lot of "potential".

Besides are there any goalies of merit in this draft? That, more than anything is something this team has to address. The goaltender pipeline is barren and Lundqvist isn't getting any younger.

Blue Jackets will likely have two picks in the top 20. In a draft like this, that is a wry good building block for their future...in Quebec.

Nice Job, Pete. Lot's of questions need to be answered. I had a dream last night Gaborik was traded to San Jose for Dan Boyle. Don't remember if a draft pick was thrown in... i did not awake in terror, but I was fairly indifferent. That's what this team has brought me to, a state of indifference. The losses have been atrocious and the wins, mediocre. I know, as fans, we may have been spoiled by last year's team ,but a lot can happen in 17 games. I have to say, I do fear for what another overhaul of this team in the offseason would do the collective psyche of our core.

I actually think it is quite the opposite. A lot of your hockey elite guys (McKenzie, McGuire, et.) say that this is going to be one of the best drafts in awhile. To put into perspective, I have heard alot of people say that there are going to be guys drafted in the late teens and early 20s that would have been candidates to be drafted in the top 10 of last year's draft.

Last year's draft was ass though. Not a lot of apparent blue chip prospects last June. A lot of projects in the 2012 draft.

With the exception of last year and the first year after the lockout, the Rangers have either made or missed the playoffs in the last two games of the season. We're just back to the status quo.

It was just a defense heavy draft, and we know that defenders take longer to mature, so I don't think you see alot of immediate impact from last year's draft. Some good high-end talent in Yakupov and Galenchenuk though, and Forsberg and Grigorenko going in 10-15 range isn't bad either.

The Rangers play the Flyers, Sens and Canadiens this week. These are not easy teams for the Rangers. But, if they win 4 of 6 points they are in good shape. 3 of 6 is holding and but making it tighter. 2 of 6 and they are in trouble and they become a potential seller next week.

I do not think it is entirely outside the realm of possibility that the Rangers could move a Gaborek for a first round pick rather then a player coming back.

We are all looking in hindsight in regards to last season. When they lost to Jersey, to a man, we all said that they needed more scoring. They get Nash and to me that wasn't the issue that has plagued them this season. What did the team in was their failure to recognize how important players like Prust and Fedotenko were to their bottom forward set.

Replacing them with Asham and Pyatt were daggers to the overall balance of their forward lines. Asham I actually like, but he can't stay healthy. Pyatt is too unassuming for his size and that isn't a good thing.

It goes without saying that the down years from Richards, Gaborik, Boyle, McDonagh and Girardi has been the real issue this season, personnel-wise, but the loss in free agency and not sufficiently replacing them is a big issue as well.

Issues...

Nice work Pete. For what it's worth I appreciate the efficiency of the Zen Master's description of team and individual over Kipling's Law of the Jungle. Then again I'm not a poetry guy.
