Dekeyser is 6'3'' and 190 lbs with full gear. He's going to shut down jack.

All smoke and mirrors with Oilers management. How to keep fans interested in the team without having to win games. Draft pics and college signings.

Well Said. The kid is over hyped, my little cuz and him are drinking budys. He needs a few years A. Why Oil fans want to trade Smid is beyond me.

How about "Show some self-respect and do the best you can do. Even if it's a 9th place finish that leaves us drafting a nobody that gets us nowhere it's better than another year of dropping down in the standings salivating over a teenager"?

Might be a little unwieldy to fit on a poster.

Yep.

Tambs has done a marvelous job at lowering our expectations.
Another high pick and we might sign some kid from college!! Huge steps forward!

This is what the oilers will do between now and draft.

1) draft 4th, we will get barkov

That is all.

What I'd like them to do:

1) draft barkov
2) trade for Samuelson
3) sign clowe or Horton
4) trade hemsky and gagner for proven nhler that can slot in the top 4 or bigger second line centre. Obviously not an all star but perhaps a two way guy is obtainable.

Hockey team is in total denial of their situation. Same poppycock post game interviews. No urgency at all.

In other news to get Jerome Iginla: 2 prospects and a draft pick.

Good luck Feaster.

I remember as a kid in the 80's asking my mom and dad what kids in other city cheered for. After all they did not have the eskies winning 5 straight and the oilers with the greatest player ever winning 5 out of 7

Well Karma's a real female dog. After the last decade I can't help but wonder what do Edmonton kids cheer for

I can both see how the pens trades are a cause for optimism and negativity for the oilers. It does show that rental players and extra pieces have value, for optimism, and that the value of the oilers players isn't going to be what richard dreamed they would be. I understand the arguments that hemsky isn't a rental but the general feeling was he was below iginla morrow and possibly even clowe on teams wish lists. sets his market cap at no better than the pens gave up for morrow, imo. Smid, a rental, maybe goes for a similar price as Murray. I would even put him at slightly more value. maybe a 2nd with a conditional 1st if he resigns. gives the team aquiring him the option of resigning if they go far in the playoffs or keeping their pick if they bow out early.

Goin to the game in van for my buds bday on the 4th. Yearly tradition for awhile now.

Was really hopin they could string a few wins together and actually make it mean somethin for the oil (or more to the point-me) for the first time in 4 years.

Best case scenario is once all the teams ahead of us have played 33 games Nashville (already has), Dallas, San Jose, Columbus, Phoenix that 34 points is what the 8th seed has (IE what Nasvhille has now). That would mean that if we started to turn things around, we'd be a point out of 8th with 15 games left.

Worst case scenario, San Jose wins three and sits in 8th after 33 games with 38 points. Even winning our next two, and being back 5 with 15 games back would necessitate a miracle.

Bottom line: we've got 17 games left and we probably need about 23-25 points. Since our opponents include Anaheim x3, Vancouver x3, Minnesota x2, St Louis, Chicago and Los Angeles, we are essentially obliged to beat Phoenix, Calgary x3, Columbus, and Colorado to even stand a chance

I like Smid personally. He's a super pleasant guy. He goes to the same yoga classes I'm in. Drank with him a couple times at the Bank and Iron Horse.

But in the business of hockey, he has more value for other teams. He's built to be an offensive forward, but plays the defensive game. If he had 20 extra pounds, he would be perfect.

the boys are all bc born nuck fans except for me. the fukers have been tearin me apart and abusing me mercilessly for years.

Be nice to actually have something tangible to jab back at them with a meaningful oiler win.

But its just Wishfull thinking when our gm has his eye focused on another top draft pick.

I would love for the Oilers to go into next season with a high 1st round pick added to the mix. That guy (a forward) plus Hall, Ebs, Nuge, Yaks, Gags, Maggie, Harti, Petry, JSchultz, NSchultz, DeKeyser, Klefbom, Fisty...maybe McNeill thrown in there too. Youngest team in the NHL, and a core of Type A players who have excelled at every level up until now...Guys who can succeed and want to succeed. Out with the old, and in with the new.

That's all fine and dandy Clouts, but since you want to get rid of every veteran on this team, who fills out the rest of the roster? It will take 4 more years for that defensive core to develope into a contender, and I don't see too many bottom six forwards on that list? C'mon, man back up your comments, how does this team start to contend by 2014-15? This plan has holes.

How many 1st round picks do you need to make the playoffs? Terrible, just terrible. You wouldn't get Kadri straight up for any of your overrated under-achieving stars. Kadri actually plays defense, and hits like a truck. Unlike your soft forwards. He is the reason the Leafs are in a playoff spot. Same thing can't be said for your multiple 1st round picks. Good day.
