Nice that Wings got DeKeyser but at this point I just think of him as a depth guy. Will wait to see what he looks like against NHL players to see where he fits in.

Hope Holland will be on the phone this weekend and up until the deadline to either try and trade some of the extra forwards/defense for upgrades or prospects/picks. I really hope he has the stones to trade Filppula since it doesn't look like he will be re-signed. Plenty of teams looking for depth for a playoff push or cup run and a good two way player with speed that can play wing and center (with a cup ring to boot) could bring back a nice return at the deadline. This better not be another Hudler where Holland just lets another asset leave for nothing just to make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round. At worst the assets he gets for Filppula might be used to help bring in the winger for Datsyuk or that legit top 4 defenseman the Wings need.

It's time to see if Holland has some stones or he will go back to his "we like our team" BS stand pat and lose players for nothing just to make the playoffs.

Its a tricky position to be in though, you dont want to look like youre giving up o your way into the playoffs. Like vancouvera deal for kassian, not a bad trade for the players swapped, but thought it was horrible timing given they essentially dropped a productive player from their lineup going into the playoffs.

Obviously this isnt the same situation as filppula is a ufa, but the optics of it could be pretty damaging. I do agree with you though, if he wants 5+ then I have no interest in that and I hink he would get a nice return, just not sure I see it happening.

I don't think Holland has the balls to trade Fil now unless he gets a top 6 forward back or that top 2 defenseman the team needs and I don't see that happening. As much as I like Fil, I wouldn't let him walk for nothing though and would trade him for draft picks/prospects.

(frank) defence at this point, one defenceman back and 4 deep. Losing 15-0 is just as bad as 5-0

You could say the same today. Totally deked howard on that third goal.

I'm not a Detroit fan, but that game was painful to watch... It's sort of sad when you start feeling sorry for team that used to command so much respect. No offense intended BTW...

That performance deserves some offense. Zetterberg being out really changes the look of the team, basically just have everyone shut down datsyuk and youre good to go.

So they're going to be up 3 points on 9th if St. Louis closes out the win tonight, and they look like they're adding for a run. It'll be interesting to see what Holland does, predicting a stand pat or a very, very minor deal.
