He's probably a little better I agree, but not thaaaaat much better. - Homer
I love Neal (and Vanek) but I could see him reverting back to his Dallas point totals on the Sabres. PIT seems like the perfect fit for him. |

really? Neal is thta much better than Vanek in your opinon?? - Homer
Neal is 4 years younger and has a 5 mil cap hit for the next 5 years, compared to Vanek's 7mil cap hit for the next 2. Shero would laugh and hang up the phone. |

#sabres #kings have a deal on the table regher for toffoli will Darcy take it? LA wants 2nd rd pick for iginla
dont shoot the messenger...its more than anything we have right now, but its also a coincidence now that I think of it....we were JUST talking about this.... - Sabres2012CUP
Kind of funny that's the same name that people were throwing around here that they would like from LA. I just can't see a prospect involved for Regehr, in my opinion it would be just picks but who knows. If that was the deal on the table it would have been done by now, Toffoli seems like a pretty good prospect. |

Hopefully before 3pm next Wed, Regier shows us why Sabres brass should even consider keeping him around.
I really want him gone, but perhaps he has a whopper of a deal up his sleeve - Powerslave
If he pulls off another trade like Kassian for Hodgson like he did last year that nobody saw coming, he might get to stay. |

Judging by stats only he seems to have torn apart the OHL the past few years and the AHL this year. 28 G 20 A in 54 games his rookie year in the AHL. Seems to have way too much value to trade for a 2nd pairing aging dman IMO. |

You are right in everything you said, however, and it's a big however, there has been a ton of talk that Neal is only as productive as he is due to the center he plays with, and his all around game has not been nearly the same this year.
Put Vanek on that line with that center and see what happens.
Explosion is the word.
Vanek does not get nearly the respect he deserves due to his salary.
If he was making what Neal is making, people would be singing his praises until the cows came home. |

True, but things do get crazy around the deadline.
See the two Sabres trades last year as a prime example. |

Why not resign Regehr? I haven't seen him play much this year, but I do like him and would take him on the habs |

The Jets apparently would take a pick for Ron Hainsey but he just got hurt and if he misses time I doubt anyone would take an injured, expensive and 2nd pairing at best Dman for what Chevy will ask for him, most likely a second round pick. |

That is unfortunate because Jr. can tell you how well thought of Tyler Toffoli is as a prospect and player. |

It's more that Buffalo is stocked with young D men that are cheaper, younger, and have a much higher ceiling. |

Neal definitely needs a very good center to hit that 40 goal plateau. He works hard in other areas but his main asset is firing lasers. Doesn't create much on his own.
Vanek is the better player but not 2M per year more better.

If they were making the same salary, or were within half a million per year, it would be no contest that Vanek is the better player.
I think Vanek would help make Malkin even more productive, and I don't think you can make the same statement about Neal regarding Malkin. |
