Calgary has played most of the year with ONE center in the lineup
Matt Stajan...not even being cute, when Backlund got hurt they had ONE CENTER - flashfire
I suppose I just don't understand what you guys mean then when you describe a player as a 'beast'. To me, that means the player is capable of taking the team on his back, and leading them to greatness, ala Jagr after Mario retired the first time (well, I guess he still had the KLS line as support, but you get the picture).
So either Iginla is a 'beast', in which case, it shouldn't matter how many centers Calgary has had this year, or he's a good support player who is apparently way too expensive to aquire and doesn't really suit the needs of the Penguins anyhow. |

Like i said, that line would be nasty. But with the trades the Pens made, i don't see it happening, unless Iggy comes in free agency during the summer. |

It's not about talent though, clearly he isn't... But he adds areas of the game that line needs, and is slightly more "sand-paper" than Iginla. |

Has anyone else noticed that Ek reported on the last 2 trades within minutes of them being announced...and only after they were announced elsewhere, everywhere? WTF makes anyone believe that he knows anything???? "sources" my ass! unless that's what he renamed his stupid (frank)ing dog |

Right.....just like Dupuis would have 15 goals on the Panthers because he's so sweet. - The-O-G
Dupuis scored 25 last year without Crosby for the majority of the season. |

when you trade for a player, do you trade for the whole cap hit or only the % of the hit in accordance with games remaining? |

% of the hit in accordance with games remaining. 4 mil in cap space becomes like 12-15 mil at the trade deadline. |

Realistically, it was the exact same thing last year too. More than good enough to beat any team in a 7-game series and win the Cup. - Flyers_V88
It's all about match-ups. If Pittsburgh didn't face Philly in the first round, I'm convinced we go to the Cup Finals.

Ek had a trade announced as breaking news a full hour after I got a text from GameCenter and from TSN |

You trade for their remaining pro-rated cap (the amount remaining based on the amount paid-out so far through the amount of games played). |

Your dream is over champ. Stop talking Iggy to Pittsburgh. We went a different direction and you are bent. It's obvious.

I'd argue the same. Funny eh, that those match-ups can really mess with a team.
What's also funny too, is that I figured if we were able to beat you guys, we were also Finals bound lol... Clearly didn't happen |

Didn't say he was...the conversation was if they did get him he would play on the third line, which he wouldn't.
Thanks for your useless opinion though |

If Pittsburgh traded for Iginla, Iginla would bump Pascal Dupuis down to line 3. It would be a big risk since Dupuis seems to know exactly how to play on that line and the locker room may be disrupted.
Generally speaking, if you have a line where all three guys are clicking, you don't break it up for a generic position upgrade unless you are the Rangers.

Dupuis scored 20 under Jacques Lemaire playing with Cliff Ronning and Jim Dowd. Duper can play. |

I have to disagree with that one. The Penguins would have had a hard time beating my men's league inline hockey team with the defense they were playing in that series... |

They have over $10M worth of UFA contracts, including the $6.6M they just acquired. Pretty clear though the 'guins are going for it. |
