Are you saying iggy wouldn't be willing to do that if it meant winning a cup
- Genev21

Apparently Iginla is a perimeter player

How quickly people forget what a beast the guy is. I can't wait until he get's traded and starts destroying the league.

Pittsburgh has as balanced a team as can be made under the salary cap. I don't think the Rangers will make the playoffs, but Rick Nash and especially Milan Lucic are not happy that Murray is on the Penguins.

Speaking of the salary cap, Philly just announced that Danny Briere is going on LTIR with a concussion. How much are we betting that he stays there for the remainder of his contract, along with Chris Pronger (and Derian Hatcher, and Mike Rahje, and Ian Laperiere, &c.) to provide Philly artificial cap relief. Get ready for more ridiculous offer sheets from Philly using cap space they shouldn't have.

- Johnny Wrath

Call it what you want, but it's legal and within the salary cap constraints... You're telling me Shero wouldn't pull the EXACT same thing if Pittsburgh was in the same scenario? Please... Any smart GM would do the same.

No, i'm saying that Shero is not going to give up the assets required to aquire Iggy. Would love to see him in a Pens sweater, but its not happening.

Its all fine and dandy until Briere or Pronger heal and want to come back to play... then well it will be interesting to say the least

Better start using better sources for information or tell the Pens to slow the *%^& down. That's two trades they've made in less than 24 hours, for players that you didn't even have Pittsburgh as a potential destination.

In my opinion Pitt overpaid for Murray in a HUGE way. I love Murray's toughness and physicality, but the fact is he was FAR more effective as a defender in the NHL of a few years ago. The game has gotten faster in the past 5 years, and there is more of a premium than ever on mobile defensemen. Murray, for all he does well, was never an elite skater, and with his advanced age has gotten even worse. His numbers bear this out. His +/-, hits, and SOG have all dropped for three straight years. As a longtime fan of Murray's it pains me to say it, but right now he is nothing more than a third pairing d-man. Two second round picks is a steep price to pay for that, especially one who can't effectively kill penalties any longer.
- TheGreatNumber8

And that's exactly what he will be on the Pens. Much better than last year when Engelland and Lovejoy were the 3rd pair...and don't think he can't kill penalties anymore...don't think San Jose has the 4th ranked PK by accident.

You haven't been watching lately. They've given up a grand total of 9 goals in the last nine games. That's no accident.

Bortuzzo has more upside than Engelland...I'd try to keep him if I could.

Are you serious about Neal???? You know, James Neal, who scored 40 goals last year and is 5th in the NHL this year????
- cap1681

look at what Neal has done without Malkin ... 2 A last 7 games .... I like Neal and think he is a good player but him like Dupuis are taking advantage of playing with superstar centers .... Playing with cervenka stajan backlund makes it a bit harder to pad stats

Anybody else find it funny Eklund thinks the sharks are interested in campbell or visnovsky? If this Murray trade tells us anything, it's that Sharks are in the process of doing a rebuild. It's not like the Sharks have Jay Feaster as a Gm

The fact that he's still 5th in the NHL shows what he can do WITH Malkin, which will be the case for the rest of the season.

Well clearly Briere is going to be "coming back to play"... His career isn't over. Pronger? Really, you honestly think he's going to try and come back? Even he knows, in reality, his on-ice career is toast. He knows it, the Flyers know it, so there's really no worry there. Even he knows that the time off he's had, coupled with his age and poor sight in one eye, he could never be the same on the ice again.

I have no problem with that. That line would be nasty. I just dont think, after the trades he's made, Shero will give up the asking price for Iggy, unless he had certainity that Iggy was resigning with Pittsburgh for a cap friendly deal.

It's true. No knock against his talent, but it's hard to imagine a player of his skill NOT putting up those kinds of numbers playing with a Crosby or Malkin... Ask yourself, why weren't his numbers even close to that in Dallas?

Why isn't he destroying the league from Calgary?
