Bennett, Despres for Iginla

- FLYERSROCK!

Not a chance waive glass which gives more cap space or take a pick of you can get one and I think the price on iggy could drop a lot because he wants to win and with these moves the pens may have the best chance he could say to Calgary Pittsburgh or nowhere which would make me very happy

a conditional 3rd rounder in 2014 if he re-signs in Pitts. If he doesnt re-sign, you dont get the 3rd rounder

Iginla will end up in LA.

Why, you may ask? Iggy is not looking to be a rental, and Calgary and LA will be in the same division next year, so the dumbest thing Feaster can do is make a trade to improve LA... that's why

EDIT: and because Lombardi is dumb enough to give Fatass the asking price

Re-alignment is going to make it incredibly difficult for CGY and EDM to make the playoffs for the next EDIT several years.

After aquiring Morrow, the Pens are out of the Iggy race. It would be a waste of assets. Shero is not breaking up the Crosby line, and Morrow will slot in nice on Malkin's line. I can't see Shero paying what Calgary wants for Iggy to play on the 3rd line. Barring some minor roster moves, Shero is done.

In my opinion Pitt overpaid for Murray in a HUGE way. I love Murray's toughness and physicality, but the fact is he was FAR more effective as a defender in the NHL of a few years ago. The game has gotten faster in the past 5 years, and there is more of a premium than ever on mobile defensemen. Murray, for all he does well, was never an elite skater, and with his advanced age has gotten even worse. His numbers bear this out. His +/-, hits, and SOG have all dropped for three straight years. As a longtime fan of Murray's it pains me to say it, but right now he is nothing more than a third pairing d-man. Two second round picks is a steep price to pay for that, especially one who can't effectively kill penalties any longer.

Pittsburgh has as balanced a team as can be made under the salary cap. I don't think the Rangers will make the playoffs, but Rick Nash and especially Milan Lucic are not happy that Murray is on the Penguins.

Speaking of the salary cap, Philly just announced that Danny Briere is going on LTIR with a concussion. How much are we betting that he stays there for the remainder of his contract, along with Chris Pronger (and Derian Hatcher, and Mike Rahje, and Ian Laperiere, &c.) to provide Philly artificial cap relief. Get ready for more ridiculous offer sheets from Philly using cap space they shouldn't have.

He would absolutely play on the second line ahead of morrow or bennett I really don't understand what they saw in him besides leadership qualities which this team does need and of course all this is depending on the right asking price

At the end of the day I don't think iggy will go for as steep of an asking price as what is currently rumoured out there.

Rumour: Blue Chip + Good Prospect + First

Actual Deal: Blue Chip + First

Also, the Flames would have thrown in Cory Sarich for free, which would have filled some of the void Pitt felt they had which is why they went out and got Murray for two second rounders. Steep price IMO

Morrow is exactly what Malkin's line needs. Gritty, able to go into the "dirty" areas and retrieve the puck. He is a perfect fit. Plus, the Penguins keep their 1st round pick, which they have proven over the past 5 years is a valuable asset.

Except Iginla now knows he's going to have much tougher sledding against Pittsburgh if he goes to Boston.

Besides... unless Dallas goes on a major run... chances are the difference between our second rounder and their third might only be like 10 spots.

Sarich is about 30 pounds lighter. I think Penguins management wanted a behemoth to be Fleury's bouncer when Horton, Lucic, and company come to the blue paint. Oh, and that pesky David Carkson guy.

Your not breaking up Malkin and Neal. They have too much chemistry. Iggy will not wear a Pens sweater this year. Maybe, next year......
