Love these trades. Hate to see Morrow go, but Shero has built this D prospect pool for a reason. The Pens have filled their so called holes and really didn't give up too much to do it. This team got a lot tougher to play against (which is saying a lot) in the past 24 hours.

The fact Ray traded him to Dallas should send a message to you that he slipped in the eyes of management. We still have Harrington, Maatta, Pouliott, Dumoullin, Samuelsson, and the kid we got from Phoenix.
- Oneonta Penguin

Dumoullin is nothing special so far. Samuelsson on most nights is downright horrible. As for the other three. Ill reserve judgement until I get to see them play here in WBS.

Your entire 4th line is waiver fodder. What are you talking about? They play for the best and most arrogant organization in the NHL

Anyway, I think we can get something for them. Winnipeg would be my choice to send them as they have good pieces to trade for.

- Orpik44

What are you talking about? What makes the Oilers arrogant?

Most teams 4th liners and bottom 2 defensemen are waiver fodder. I don't think Dustin Jeffrey, who doesn't score, doesn't kill penalties and isn't physical is much different. In a year where not just scrubs like Boychuk and Eager get waived, but Loktionov, Ellerby, Volpatti and a bunch of other decent pickups, I don't see teams lining up to pay when they can just wait Shero out. No offense to the player.

If Tangradi can manage to land a seventh, those two can get a fifth rounder easily.

Don't be surprised if Shero is forced to waive them is all.

Murray running over Duper last year was like a train hitting a deer.

So, we've filled the two most noticeable holes in our roster (top 9 forward & physical d-man), and didn't give up any roster players in return?

Bortuzzo will be traded. Only 24 and can probably startin the bottom 2 of 75% of NHL Teams. They will get a 5th or 6th for him.

Douglas Murray for 2nd rounder and conditional 2nd rounder. Shero appears to be trying to get his shopping done early. Bortuzzo and Despres will most likely suffer most from this, right now anyway.

No one needs to get waived.

Pens are currently carrying 26 players w/ Letang and Malkin on IR.

Send Trevor Smith down to WBS now.

Send Bennet, who is not waiver eligible, down to WBS when Malkin comes off IR. When 23-roster limit disappears on April 3, bring him back up.

Send Despres, who is not waiver eligible, down to WBS when Letnag comes off IR. When 23-roster limit disappears on April 3, bring him back up.

Pens are back down to 23-man roster.

Not happy about getting Murray. He is not what this team needs. He CAN"T skate. He will be a liability against teams like Boston or Montreal in the Playoffs. They need guys that can move the puck from the back end.

More on Murray deal: the 2nd pick in 2014 based on Pitt winning 2 playoff rounds OR resigning him and if neither occurs, it's a 3rd in 2014

If he's intent on getting blood from the stone, 2014 picks like the Lovejoy deal would be a good way to go about it.

He's gotta shave 3 from the active roster ASAP. It's up in the air whether teams will use this need to wait for a guy to go on waivers or not.

No, they need a physical guy to clear the net and help the PK. Hal Gill couldn't skate and I think he did ok while he was a pen

Good observation:

I'd say Shero overpaid a little for both guys, but by doing so now, he's set a steep market if other teams want to keep up. Clever

Hmmm. Didn't realize about the roster limit disappearing.

Well they might weather the storm then. Do they really want to lose Bennett and Despres though at this juncture? I'd say top priority is getting rid of the guys you don't want, whether you get a 5th-7th back for them or not.

honestly, I fear breaking up a team that has a 12 game winning streak right now...id rather keep despres and bennett in Pitt even though they are eligible to come back to WBS. Id rather find a way to move some form of Engo/Glass/Bortuzzo/Jeffrey. Id like to see Pitt get and hold onto some picks in order to hopefully pick up some forwards to develop.

Sending other Despres or Bennett down to WBS isn't ideal, but its for 4 games. I highly doubt the Pens season or the development of either player will be that greatly affected by 4 measly games.

Tue, Mar 26 vs Montreal 7:00 PM
Thu, Mar 28 vs Winnipeg 7:00 PM
Sat, Mar 30 vs NY Islanders 1:00 PM
Tue, Apr 2 vs Buffalo 7:30 PM
Wed, Apr 3 @ NY Rangers 7:30 PM

By April 3rd at 3pm, both would be elgible to come back up to Pitt. vs. the Rangers.

I believe he was talking about fourth lines in general being waiver fodder. Also he's refering to the people saying that the Penguins are the arrogant team.
