Assets: Can play an effective stay-at-home role and excels in penalty-killing situations. Is an awesome physical specimen and loves to dish out bone-crunching hits.

Flaws: Will never be confused with Paul Coffey in terms of his offensive ability. Must avoid taking bad penalties. Is only average in the skating department.

Career Potential: Mammoth shutdown defenseman

Wouldnt be surprised if Bortuzzo is moved. Would have to clear waivers and wouldnt. And probably wont see a game the rest of the year.

Why assume we're moving a forward? Murray gives us 9 NHL dmen. 1 of which is waivers exempt and wont be sent down.

Agreed but if both of these trades work out for the Pens, they have an excellent combination of skill and toughness.

Too much for any team to handle, with the exception of Chicago. The way it looks right now, Pittsburgh looks like the team to beat.

Saw this too. Very curious that he wouldve struck 2 deals in 2 days without shedding a roster player should this turn out to be true. Have to think something else is in the works with some roster players involved as I cant imagine Shero doing all the roster juggling to this point only to expose Jeffrey, Vitale, Glass, Borts, etc to waivers now.

This deal seems exactly like the hawks dealing for Oduya last year: couple of 2nd/3rd picks.

We have one extra forward and one extra d-man on the roster now. Both roster exempt guys shouldn't be send down (Bennett & Despres), but might be to get the roster right for tomorrow if Letang & Malkin are in.

As we learned with Boychuk, even if we put someone on waivers tomorrow, they still take up a roster spot for 24 hours until they are cleared/claimed, so we'd be at 25 for tomorrow's game.

Unless Shero is still dealing, I'd bet Bennett and Despres are getting sent down if 71 & 58 are back at least as paper transactions.
